May Anticipated Releases

Hey all, Dani here.

There are apparently a lot of books coming out in May, including the paperback release of a book I have wanted for YEARS. I like having matching covers and matching formats, and this one trilogy has not had a complete matching set EVER…until now. So, I am very very excited about it.

Okay, I don’t want to waste any time. Let’s just go ahead and start talking about May releases. Oh, also, I think I like the way I’m formatting these, trying to organize the books by their respective release weeks within the post. But, I will also say that some of these may have shifted release dates a little bit, because–I will admit that I don’t exactly regularly check to confirm the releases have stayed the same. Sorry, I find a lot of books that I want to read and so my anticipated releases list can get very long at times. Unless I see a lot of people on social media talking about a date change, I usually don’t immediately know.

The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa (May 4), The Dragon of Jin-Sayeng by K.S. Villoso (May 4), The Last Fallen Star by Graci Kim (May 4), Blade of Secrets by Tricia Levenseller (May 4), Black Clover Vol 25 by Yuki Tabata (May 4), Edens Zero Vol 11 by Hiro Mashima (May 4), Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard (May 4)

If you didn’t know already, I am a bit obsessive about having matching book sets. So this trilogy by Julie Kagawa has been one that I have long avoided reading. They released the first book in hardcover, then changed the cover for the paperback as well as the hardcover for book two; that was fine because I liked the cover change overall…and then book three came out in a hardcover that matched book two but not book one, but then didn’t release the matching paperback. So I have had the first and second book in paperback on my shelves for years, just hoping to finally find a matching set of the trilogy…and that day has finally arrived.

I’m honestly excited about all the books being released in this first week of May, but the only one I felt the need to gush/rant about is The Forever Song. I am really curious about Realm Breaker though, because I loved the first book of Victoria Aveyard’s last series but book two was just okay and I ended up DNFing book three.

Son of the Storm by Suyi Davies Okungbowa (May 11), People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry (May 11)

Not a big release week for the early-middle of May, but that’s okay. Honestly I keep looking forward to a whole bunch of books, and then buying a very nice sized haul each month…but I’m not yet fully past my reading slump, so I’m not even close to reading everything that I’m buying. Oh well.

Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey (May 18), Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Vol 7 by Hiro Mashima and Atsuo Ueda (May 18), Hinowa Ga Crush Vol 5 by Takahiro (May 18), How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Vol 11 by Yukia Murasaki (May 18), In the Ravenous Dark by A.M. Strickland (May 18), Dark One Vol 1 by Brandon Sanderson (May 18), The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren (May 18), Shipped by Meredith Tate (May 18)

Okay, so there’s a bunch of manga volumes and contemporary romance books coming out in May, and that’s actually pretty exciting because those are all usually books that I read rather quickly. Also, can I just say that I’m rather happy with all of these romances that seem to be around books and/or fandom? Hit me with all those geeky romance books, please and thank you!

Oh, and I just got approved through NetGalley for In the Ravenous Dark…which I mentioned in my Recent NetGalley approval post recently, but I am so excited to read it. So I’ll probably be picking it up very very soon.

Talk Bookish to Me by Kate Bromley (May 25)

Only one book for the end of May, which is totally fine because it sounds bookish and cute, and I’m excited to check it out.

Well, I don’t want to make this post too long, so I do believe that is about it for me for today. Are there any May releases I should be on the lookout for? What May releases are you excited to read? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
