February Book Haul and OwlCrate Unboxing

Hey all, Dani here.

Continuing on in my catch up of 2021 so far, today I’m talking about the books I bought in February, including the contents of my OwlCrate for this month. I have to say that I’m actually really enjoying the current method I’m using to get these posts written. I’ll spend a few minutes putting in the basic skeleton outline for the post, like the greeting and then putting the blocks into place for writing and then for images, and I’ll prep up about three or four posts. Then when I sit down to actually write them, I only need to take about 10-15 minutes to fill in each post and schedule it. Hopefully I can keep going with this setup for awhile.

Okay, so February I did not buy that many books. I was really feeling the slump, and there weren’t as many books that I felt like I needed to buy immediately. I had another five books on my February release list but decided not to pick them up because they are book two or three or six of a series that I’m not caught up on, so buying the book can wait until I’m actually ready to read it.

I am actually really excited about all four books that I bought in February…I just haven’t exactly been in the mood to pick them up just yet. I’m still really fighting this slump for reading. My focus has really been on living in our D&D campaigns and then a little bit on my writing and such. Hopefully I can get back to my regular reading groove again soon. I kind of miss it.

It’s OwlCrate time.

The February theme was Magic Unleashed. Based on the way the theme announcement card looked, and the book description, I knew it would be The Gilded Onces by Namina Forna…which is a book I was approved for on NetGalley back in 2020, and I read it in the weeks before it was supposed to be released…and then the publication got pushed back to this year. So, I have read it. I really thought it was an interesting book. I do probably need to re-read it though. And I definitely need to finally get my review up.

I think my favorite item is probably the book shaped storage tin, which is based on the Shades of London series by V.E. Schwab. It is apparently the first tin in a set of four, and I’m really excited to see the others. Normally I give the storage tins to Damian. Because of all of the crafting he does, extra storage for small pieces is really helpful. BUT, since this is one of my favorite book series, I kept it. So, I gave him the zipper pouch instead, and he seemed okay with that.

Honestly, I think my least favorite item in this box is the hairbrush. I have annoying hair that can get really thick at times, and the brush seems like it will be a bit too flimsy to work for me. It looks cool though.

Okay, well I think that is it for today.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
