Weekly Wrap-Up (80)

Hey all, Dani here.

Whoa, well I guess WordPress went to the new editor…and I don’t know how I feel about it just yet. I think I’ll give it a little bit of time before I actually decide if I like it or not. Wow. My screen just looks so blank. It’s a bit unnerving.

Anyway, I definitely owe you guys my Fall Most Anticipated Releases post, which was supposed to go up last week. I’ve just been pretty busy and distracted, and I keep getting moved around to different jobs and different work schedules. 2020 is the year of chaos, that’s for sure. It’s been hard for me to set up a legit routine. I also owe you guys my August Wrap-Up and September TBR post. So…I’m going to try to get both of those written and posted this weekend.

Okay, so welcome back to the weekly post where I talk about what I’ve read, watched, and done in the past week, as well as whatever I’m looking forward to in the next week.

I still have no video game updates for you guys. A small part of me wants to play, maybe some Skyrim or some Witcher 3, but a big part of me just doesn’t know when I’ll find the time with everything else on my schedule.

I guess that means I should talk about our watches for the past week. We decided to do a re-watch of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, just because it sounded fun. You know, those movies actually stand up pretty well when it comes to special effects, and the music is always phenomenal. We also finally started watching “Star Trek: The Original Series.” And by started, I mean we have watched one episode, and you know what? It wasn’t as bad as we were expecting it to be with the special effects and such. I also finished my rewatch of season two of “Leverage” and pretty much immediately started season three.

I didn’t even really have all that good of a reading week last week. I only finished one book, which feels pretty sad. But it was a good book, and I imagine I’ll be flying through the rest of the trilogy soon since I just got approved on NetGalley for the third book, which will be out in January.

So for my current reads I have a couple that I owe NetGalley reviews for, and then one that I just got in a Penguin Random House Fantasy mystery box. They all seem like pretty interesting and fast-paced fantasy reads, so I’m excited to dive farther into each of them. Wow, that was an unintentional pun…because Fable features a main character who is a diver.

As for my next reads, there’s a couple books that I started reading and meant to finished, but set aside, and then there’s the middle grade debut of author Nnedi Okorafor, which I’m very interested in. That one is actually a pretty short book, and based on how quickly I’ve read some of Okorafor’s other books, I’m thinking it won’t take too long. The other two are bigger, but I’m still hoping that for this long holiday weekend I’ll be able to accomplish some pretty good reading.

Well, I think that is about all from me for today. What are you currently reading? I would love to know, and I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
