Weekly Wrap-Up (79)

My mind has been spinning with thoughts and ideas and possibilities for our upcoming D&D session on Saturday. It is the final session of this first story arc and I’m so excited and nervous about what could happen. The Dungeon Master is teasing that it could be an intense and emotional session, so I’m really just hoping that my character doesn’t end up dying or something. I’ve started writing again because of her. I wrote up a selection of her journal entries from the past years…it’s something like 10 pages of writing, and so if something happens to her then I’ll never get to explore her story more.

So that’s really what’s been going on with me. Damian and I are trying to tidy up and organize our house again, because it has started to get a bit cluttered. And of course we’re still reading and writing and hanging out. The usual stuff, especially since becoming major homebodies due to stay-at-home orders and such. I mean, Ohio is pretty much opened back up, but we don’t feel like it is safe to return to the old normal, so we still restrict our running around as much as possible.

Watches: “The Big Bang Theory” Season 12, “Leverage” Season 1, “Leverage” Season 2, “Onward.” So we only have a few more episodes before we reach the series finale for BBT, and it’s actually going to be a little sad to see it end. I’m doing a re-watch of “Leverage” in honor of the current filming for the new sequel series coming out soon. And, okay, I admit to re-watching “Hart of Dixie” to get my brain more used to the Southern accent so that I can use it for D&D.

I had a pretty good week of reading this past week, which is pretty awesome. I managed to finish The Dark Tide by Alicia Jasinska, The House on the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corcoran, and Ignite the Sun by Hanna Howard. I’ll be completely honest…most of these I read at work on Tuesday, because they actually didn’t have anything for me to do (I worked for one hour of my ten hour shift), so thank goodness I had a couple books on hand, because I don’t think my phone would have survived me reading for a majority of the day. I’m going to need to try and write up reviews for these books kind of soon, because I really need to talk about them.

Obviously that means that I’ve had to start some other books, and I’m trying to somewhat balance diverse reads in my ongoing quest to diversify my reading, as well as books that I really need to read and review for NetGalley, so that is a trend that will continue from my current reads into my upcoming reads. Anyway, I’m a brief way into these three books: Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor, The Lost City by Amanda Hocking, and The Harp of Kings by Juliet Marillier, and am hoping that it won’t take me too long to complete them. It’s been a while since I’ve read an Amanda Hocking book, but I do remember them being pretty quickly.

Finally, I have quite a few books on my list and shelves that I want to get to, but I think these are the ones I want to focus on next: Ink & Sigil by Kevin Hearne, Queen of Volts by Amanda Foody, and Fable by Adrienne Young. The new Hearne book is set in the same world as his Iron Druid Chronicles, which are amazing, and I really need to re-read them so I can review them on here–because I’m pretty sure that I reviewed the first few on my old dead and buried blog. Then the books by Foody and Young are being released on Sept 1st, so I’m hoping to get them read (and reviewed) around publication day, which means I obviously need to read them quite soon.
