Hey all, Dani here.
Today is a bittersweet day. I spent an hour or so yesterday and the first couple hours today, purging my library of books. Not only is this necessary because my shelves are getting pretty full, but also because of the potential for moving in the next month or so. As I have a lot of books, that means a lot of heavy boxes and honestly, moving is one of the most stressful parts of being a book lover.
So, I guess that means for today, I’m going to talk about the books that I have removed from my collection. Some of them are ones that I’ve read and liked, but probably won’t read again. Some have just been on my shelf from eons and now that I read the synopsis, I’m not really feeling the urge to read. And some are duplicate copies where it is just time to get rid of them.
All in all, I ended up removing 117 books from my collection this time around. It still leaves my shelves decently full, but makes me feel a bit better about the moving process and my future book hauling.
Add all these to most of the books from my last unhaul–which were still just sitting in boxes waiting to be hauled away–and I have a lot of books that I need to get out of my apartment.
Some of these books are ARCs, some are signed ARCs, most are finished copies, and some are signed finished copies. I have a list of every single one of them, and right now my plan is to try and see what friends of mine would like books, for a small price.
When we move we will be needing a couple big appliances, like a refrigerator and a range, plus our house needs its gutters replaced now, and will need a roof replacement sometime in the next year. Normally I don’t ask for money for the books I’m getting rid of, but right now, that money would really come in handy for some of our expenses.
And now, with the purge completed, I can now start boxing up my library so I don’t feel as rushed when the move comes around in the next month or so. Oh, and I guess I should point out that I will have another library tour after we get unpacked and settled in…and this tour may or may not be a video tour, because Damian and I are discussing starting a YouTube channel.
I may be interested in a couple of these when and if you decide to sell them :]

I would be interested in selling. I just can’t afford to ship them or anything, lol.

Gotcha. Well either way, that’s great that you were able to unhaul so many! I get weird attachments to inanimate objects and then feel badly when I think about giving them away…

Oh, it was tough to weed them out. I just kept reminding myself that it would mean packing, moving, and unpacking less.

Which ones were you interested in? I can set them aside and see if I can find a nice cheap way to ship them after we move.

History is all you left me for sure

Cool. I will set it aside. I kept my signed ARC of History, so I felt okay letting go of the finished copy. And actually, if it’s just the one book, I should be able to do media mail for only a few dollars.

Thank you! It was a little bit of a struggle honestly. I love having a full library, but now I have room to expand a bit after the move, which is what I was hoping for. And I can also hope that someone else will find joy with the books I’m unhauling.
