Hey all, Sam here.
So May has been a pretty decent month for reading, and I’m honestly hoping to keep that reading momentum going in June. What’s also really fun is that June is my last month of reading before I compile my Top Ten Reads of 2026 (January-June Edition) post. There’s already a pretty decent list of books on that draft post, so I’m imagining at least a few honorable mentions in addition to the top ten.
With all of that being said, it is definitely time to get my June TBR finalized….well, as finalized as a TBR can be when you’re more of a mood reader than anything. Half of this list are NetGalley reads with June release dates, and I have those listed after each title, and the other half are books that I own and still need to get around to reading.
And…I’m pretty sure my TBR is all fantasy books again. I’m really excited for them though, so let’s go ahead and dive on into today’s post.

Field Guide for the Formerly Villainous by Autumn K. England (June 2), Letters from the Last Apothecary by Bita Behzadi (June 9), The Reimagining of Thornwood House by Jaleigh Johnson (June 9), Wildflower by Becky Jenkinson (June 16)
First it’s a book described as Stardew Valley meets Studio Ghibli with a cozy fantasy about healing, redemption, and simple living. Sounds great to me, and the cover looks cozy as well. Then there’s a cozy historical romantic fantasy about a grump apothecarist and the whirlwind woman who comes to his shop, and it also involves letters that connect them, so it’s You’ve Got Mail with magic. Next is a witch and her young ward discovering a a magical walking house in another cozy fantasy novel. What can I say? I absolutely adore cozy fantasies. Next is a magical florist journeying to the wild woods to fulfill an unusual request and stumbling upon friendship, conspiracy, and the beginnings of new love in a cute sounding debut cozy fantasy.

Queenswood by Kathleen Schwab (June 16), Kill All Wizards by Jedediah Berry (June 16), The House Witch by Delemhach, Rites of the Starling by Devney Perry
For the last two NetGalley reads, there’s a historical fantasy debut set in twelfth century Ireland and involving faeries, and then a barbarian who traveled to consult the wizards of his empire only to be ensorcelled, exploited, and getting his sword stolen. Now he intends to kill every wizard who wronged him, even if he has to blend into their society to do it…and that sounds incredibly ridiculous.
Moving into the non-NetGalley reads, I have been wanting to pick up The House Witch for a while, because I have seen it pop up in my socials for a few years now, and I recently picked up a copy on a book shopping trip, so it seems like a good time to read it. Then there’s the sequel to Shield of Sparrows, which I devoured around this time last year, so I’m curious to see how the story continues next.

Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova, When Life Gives You Legends by Luna Ryder, Idolfire by Grace Curtis, Crueler Mercies by Maren Chase
I’ve read a few Elise Kova novels, but hadn’t actually picked up her Married to Magic series, so with these trad pub re-releases, it seems like a good time to get started. Then there’s one of the books from my TTRPG inspired TBR for the year. While the image above is for the trilogy omnibus, my focus is on book one….although if I’m enjoying the story, I’ll obviously keep reading them. Then, finally there’s a couple more sapphic fantasies that I own and have been wanting to read. I’ve really been in a sapphic reading mood lately, so this will be fun.
All right, well that’s all from me for today. Thank you so much for stopping by. What books are you hoping to read in June? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
