2022 Book Haul!

Hey all, Sam here.

So….I was trying to work on catching up on reading wrap-ups and book haul posts and subscription box unboxing posts all those months ago…and I was able to do a few–well, a few unboxing posts–before I fell back into a blogging slump and life got so crazy and busy and all that.

Now, here we are in the final days of the year, and I have so many book hauls that I haven’t been able to share. And…I just don’t really feel like trying to break it all down into a bunch of posts just so I can have more content generated.

I guess, get ready for a photo dump…because I’ve bought a lot of books this year. I’ll try to roughly break them up, at least by season, because I do not think I can break them down into a month by month haul.

Okay, I’m pretty sure this is like my January/February book haul, or it’s pretty close to it. I was trying to at least photograph my book haul and unboxing photos and then I would upload them here every few months even when I wasn’t really posting.

It’s The Bone Spindle by Lesley Vedder, This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi, Only a Monster by Vanessa Len, Fire Becomes Her by Rosiee Thor, The Thousand Eyes by A.K. Larkwood, The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman, Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan, Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire, The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner, The Tales of Exandria: The Bright Queen by Matthew Mercer, Darcy Van Poelgeest, CoupleofKooks, Cris Peter, and Ariana Maher, The Mighty Nein Origins: Caleb Widogast by Jody Houser, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Selina Espiritu, Diana Sousa and Ariana Maher, Vox Machina Origins Series III Issue #5 by Matthew Mercer, Jody Houser, Olivia Samson, Diana Sousa, and Ariana Maher, The Starless Crown by James Rollins, Legendborn by Tracey Deonn, My Hero Academia Vol 30 by Kohei Horikoshi, The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake, One for All by Lillie Lainoff, League of Liars by Astrid Scholte, Loveless by Alice Oseman, Blood Scion by Deborah Falaye, A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft, Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell, The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegmund-Broka, Black Clover Vol 28 by Yuki Tabata, and The Tales of Exandria: The Bright Queen Issue # 4 by Matthew Mercer, Darcy Van Poelgeest, Mildred Louis, CoupleofKooks, and Cris Peter.

Whew, that was quite a list! And the fun is just getting started. But okay, I have read nine of the books from this first section, which could be worse, so I think I’m doing okay with that. I don’t really have reviews for any of them…yet, but what I’ve read is at least on a list of things I can review.

Here’s part two of the 2022 book haul. Wow, y’all, I was a book buying fiend this year. I just wish that I had been reading and blogging as voraciously. Oh well…2023 will be better.

Hounded by Kevin Hearne, Hexed by Kevin Hearne, Hammered by Kevin Hearne, Temple of No God by H.M. Long, The Bladed Faith by David Dalglish, Questland by Carrie Vaughn, My Hero Academia Vigilantes Vol 12 by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, Must Love Books by Shauna Robinson, A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross, Dawnshard by Brandon Sanderson, The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton, City of Dusk by Tara Sim, The Kobold Guide to Worldbuilding Volume 2 edited by John Joseph Adams, A Magic Steeped in Poison By Judy I. Lin, Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto, Wild and Wicked Things by Francesca May, Paper & Blood by Kevin Hearne, The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller, Middlegame by Seanan McGuire, Where Hope Comes From by Nikita Gill, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, Dungeons & Dragons Mad Libs by Christina Dacanay, Saint Death’s Daughter by C.S.E. Cooney, and Still Just a Geek by Wil Wheaton.

Whew, that’s one more section done. I’ve read 7 books in this section, and there are two that I’m in the middle of reading, so again it’s not bad, but it’s also not all that good either. I would love to keep up with what I buy, you know? It definitely feels sometimes that I buy a lot more than I read.

Round Three…also, I just looked up all the books in the segments I had broken them into…and there were like 13 photo dumps of books…so I’m breaking this up into a couple posts. Sorry, but I don’t think making this that long is a great idea. I don’t want to draft up that long of a post and y’all probably don’t want to read something that long.

Okay, next up The Shadow in the Glass by J.J.A. Hardwood, Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson, a Books are Just Words Tacos bookmark, Seasonal Fears by Seanan McGuire, Heartstopper Volume 1 by Alice Oseman, All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O’Donoghue, Forging Silver Into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer, For the Throne by Hannah Whitten, We Could Be Heroes by Mike Chen, Her Majesty’s Royal Coven by Juno Dawson, Unnatural Magic by C.M. Waggoner, Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater, Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman, Book Lovers by Emily Henry, Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson, Kagen the Damned by Jonathan Maberry, Castles in Their Bones by Laura Sebastian, The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah, In a Garden Burning Gold by Rory Power, Tricked by Kevin Hearne, Trapped by Kevin Hearne, Hunted by Kevin Hearne, The Measure by Nikki Erlick, Ultimate Gaming Showdown by M.K. England, and Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid.

And okay, again, 6 books from this section read. I guess that just means I have a lot to look forward to, right?

All right, time for the last section that I’m putting in today’s post.

I know we’re definitely in the late spring/early summer here. These pictures we’re still taken while we were at our old house in Ohio, so that helps a bit. We moved in mid-July, but we had packed a lot of stuff away there at the end as well.

Okay, we have Tome of Heroes by Kobold Press, Edgedancer by Brandon Sanderson, My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions Vol 2 by Yoko Akiyama, My Hero Academia Vol 31 by Kohei Horikoshi, The Game Master’s Book of Traps, Puzzles and Dungeons by Jeff Ashworth, Kyle Hilton, Jasmine Bhullar, and Three Black Halflings, Lore Olympus Volume 2 by Rachel Smythe, The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston, The Enigma Game by Elizabeth Wein, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman, Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher, A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers, A Prayer for the Crown-Shy by Becky Chambers, Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor by Xiran Jay Zhao, Theo Tan and the Fox Spirit by Jesse Q. Sutanto, Mr. Malcolm’s List by Suzanne Allain, Dreamer’s Pool by Juliet Marillier, Tower of Thorns by Juliet Marillier, and Den of Wolves by Juliet Marillier.

Ooof…only 3 books read from the last batch of books today. But there’s a couple volumes of manga and a couple novellas, so perhaps I’ll jump into those pretty soon.

All right, well, that’s part one of my book haul for this year. And I already have another announcement post coming for tomorrow…so I guess I’ll start my 2023 off by finishing up my wrap-up of 2022. I’ll have the rest of my book hauls (which might get split into another two posts), and then my reading wrap-up.

It’s going to be great.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and please feel free to share some of the exciting books you’ve picked up over the course of 2022. I’d love to hear all about it! That’s all for today, but I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
