Most Anticipated Releases for the Rest of the Year

It may be a bit of a cop out to make this my first real post back on the blog, but my boss is fond of saying that you should do what is easiest and fastest to do so that it is out of the way. Then you can throw more focus into the harder things because you don’t have to think about doing the easier things anymore.

I guess there is a certain logic to that. And with only three months left in 2022, there are still plenty of book releases I’m excited for. So it’s easiest to do that post right now and then start prepping posts like book hauls and reviews.

Today is like the first day off I’ve had in like…a month, I think? There’s work I would love to get done in the house (because we are only like 15% unpacked) but I’d also like to try and draft up two or three posts to schedule for the next week or so. Maybe if I can just figure out a small block of time once a week to sit down and draft up posts, I can get back into a more regular schedule again. It’s worth a shot.

October

Look, I know I can read Lore Olympus on WebToons, but I like having the physical editions of these, so that’s what I’m reading. And thankfully they seem to be doing well enough that I believe they’ll just keep releasing the volumes. What will be really sad is when the physical editions inevitably catch up with the chapter by chapter releases.

For Night of the Raven, Dawn of the Dove and Strike the Zither, I’m excited for the worldbuilding and cultural aspects that are being revealed and highlighted thanks to the increasingly diverse fantasy releases these past couple years. Actually, I have Night of the Raven, Dawn of the Dove on my e-reader right now, thanks to being approved for it on NetGalley. I have it downloaded and am really hoping to read it in the next couple weeks.

Finally, of couse I have to get the newest release from A Deborah Baker AKA Seanan McGuire. I have really enjoyed these Up and Under books, and it has been cool to see how they tie into the main story being revealed in the Alchemical Journeys series (Middlegame and Seasonal Fears).

November

Whew, November is apparently the month of book releases for me. I already have a number of these books downloaded and ready to be read thanks to NetGalley. The Vermilion Emporium I have because I am a member of Jamie Pacton’s street team. But then I have Empire of Exiles, Ship Wrecked, and Heart of the Sun Warrior as e-ARCs as well.

Then there’s Legends & Lattes. I’ve already read this book and I love this book. I was a fan of it back when it was self-published, but now it’s been picked up by Tor Books, so you know I need to have this edition as well…and it has a bonus story. I’ll definitely be writing up a review for this blog soon enough.

I’ve pre-ordered the newest book from Critical Role and I am so ready to devour it. And there’s the much anticipated releases by N.K. Jemisin and Tracy Deonn, and I am itching to have those books in my hands so I can dive into them as well.

December

Finally, it’s another slow release month for me to close out the year. But I’m not going to be too upset about that, because I have so many books that I still need to read.

I actually have already read Well Traveled, thanks to NetGalley, and will be posting a review probably next month. And of course I am keeping the Critical Role comics on my anticipated release lists because they are quick enjoyable reads, and I like learning more about these characters that I’ve spent so much time with over the years.

And December marks the conclusion of a duology by Alexandra Overy and a trilogy by Melissa Caruso, so I’m pretty excited to get my hands on those as well.
