April 2022 FairyLoot Unboxing

Hey all, Sam here.

At the time this post goes live, we’ll be getting ready to play our last D&D session with our group all sitting around the table together. For a vast majority of our sessions from here on out, my husband and I will be at the table via a video chat on a computer screen. You know, except for a few sessions when we might be able to make the 8.5 hour drive back to Ohio for a long weekend visit or something. I’m really going to miss being at the table with my friends, but I’m so grateful that they were all willing to find a way for our campaigns to continue, because we all care about the characters and the story. It’s not always easy to find such a good gaming group.

I’m getting closer to catching up on my FairyLoot unboxings as well, just a few more to go. I really like these boxes, and have absolutely loved the covers for the books as well as the book choices. I think that’s what I love most about FairyLoot; I know the books will be fantasy, so my enjoyment of the box is greater, and I’m much more likely to find a book (or books) that I want to read in each box.

So, I guess let’s go ahead and dive into the April “Bittersweet” box…

FairyLoot box, Heart Fairy Lights, collectible tarot cards, Dreamer pin, month theme/spoiler card, Constellation Canvas basket, FairyScoop, April featured book: Blood Scion by Deborah Falaye, Night Circus Tray, bonus book: An Arrow to the Moon by Emily X.R. Pan, month theme bookmark, and Blood Scion art card with author letter on the back.

It’s a box with two books! I feel like FairyLoot includes a bonus second book far more frequently than when I was getting the OwlCrate subscription. In just like six months of getting this subscription service, I think there’s been three boxes with a second book included. Like, wow, that is incredible. And, add into it the fact that even the second book has sprayed edges, it’s amazing.

Let’s take a little bit of a closer look at what was in the box.

Did you see how gorgeous the naked hardback of Blood Scion is? Come on, that is just stunning to look at. I’m also a big fan of the Night Circus tray, because I love The Night Circus. Also, that collapsible Constellation canvas basket is pretty handy as well. I’m probably not going to do anything with the string of fairy lights, but it is still cool.

I’m actually very excited about both books (and say to again have to admit that I haven’t read them yet). I can say that I’m getting better about reading again, but I have no idea what it’s going to be like for the rest of the year with the new job, so I’m hoping to be able to keep reading, and I’m hoping to be able to reach my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal, so we’ll see what happens.

All right, well that is all from me for today, but I will be back soon with more geeky content.
