Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon – October 2020 TBR

So, I enjoy readathons. I feel like having prompts or deadlines or goals on occasion really helps me focus on reading more. But the readathons I enjoy the most aren’t the week or month long events. My mood reader mind tends to drift off after a few days and then I’m constantly struggling to get back on track with what I should be reading. The best readathons for me are the short ones. I’ve done some that are 12 or 24 hours, and some that are weekend events, and those are fantastic!

With a shorter readathon I feel like it is so much easier to clear out more of my schedule for reading. Instead of trying to fit in an hour or two every day for a week long or month long event, I just need to clear out as much of one day as I can. And that really works for me.

Anyway, Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon takes place twice (well, technically three times) each year. There is a session in April and a session in October, and then usually in July they do a Reverse Readathon. Since I live in Ohio, the readathon’s hours for me run from 8am-8am, except during the Reverse Readathon, when the hours are 8pm-8pm.

The next session of Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is coming up this Saturday, October 24th, and I’m hoping to read at least a couple books during the event.

Okay, well, the main part of this post is to talk about my TBR for this weekend. Much like usual with these readathons, I have a tentative TBR. Some of these books might get read during the week before the readathon starts. Some other books might grab my mood reader mind and want to be read instead.

Why yes, I do realize that 15 books is WAY MORE than I’ll realistically be able to read in a 24 Hour period…unless I was only reading manga, and then 15 books is actually on the low side of things.

Anyway, all of these books fit the fall vibe I’m going for, whether that is because they are a fantasy read, or because they deal with ghosts or witches or monsters, or because they sound like they have a certain atmosphere to them. I’ve already read A Discovery of Witches so it’s probably lower on the tentative TBR, but I also read it several years ago and I don’t remember much about it.

So there it is…my possible TBR for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon this Saturday. Who knows if I’ll actually stick to this or not. Some years I’m pretty good about only reading from my TBR stack, while other years I deviate from the very beginning. I guess you’ll find out next week in my Weekly Wrap Up post.
