September Wrap-Up and October TBR

September is over, and the weather is cooling down. It really does feel like fall now, which is pretty exciting. Now it’s time to curl up with a blanket, a hot beverage, and read. That’s pretty much how I handle winter, because I am not a fan of the cold. Anyway, as we begin a new month, it’s time for me to once again go over everything I’ve read in the past month, and everything book-centric that I bought in the last month, as well as what I dream of hopefully reading in the new month.

Oh, and I can say that things might have eased up a little bit for work again, at least for the next few weeks. After that, I have no clue, because I might end up going to another shift again, and a different position again, but it’s all a bit up in the air at the moment, so we’ll just see what happens when we get to the end of October.

As usual with my monthly wrap-up, let’s start off by checking in on my overall goals for the year.

• Reading: It’s official. September was my slowest reading month for 2020, but I still did finish 14 books, so overall it was still a really good month. So overall for the year I am at 211 books finished. I can’t believe how many books I’ve read this year, and there are still three months to go, so I’m looking forward to seeing what my final book count for the year is.
• Blogging: I’m keeping up with my weekly blog post, and the Calendar Girls post the first Monday of the month. And I’m looking forward to my blog tour posts coming in the month of October. I’m also really hoping that I’ll be able to write up a few more review posts, because there are some books that I definitely want to talk about more.
• Writing: I wrote a couple thousand more words for my D&D characters. And towards the end of the month I actually ended up re-reading the 10k I’d written for my D&D romance novel…and you guys, what I wrote was actually good. I’m really excited about getting back to writing, and am actually really hopeful about being able to get at least a couple chapters (or more) written in October.
• Conventions: Well, aside from the regular online convention-like experiences being held by Colorworld Books, I have no conventions on my schedule for the foreseeable future. And in vacation news, Damian and I have a Hocking Hills cabin getaway booked for what would have been our honeymoon, but is now sort of a pre-honeymoon, seeing as how our wedding has been postponed until October 2021. But the leaves are starting to turn super colorful, so I think the vacation is going to be beautiful.

Wow, my book haul for this month is actually pretty small compared to the past months. I’m a bit surprised honestly. I’m currently reading one of these books, and have another on my “spooky October TBR,” but I’m looking forward to reading all of them.

Okay, so now let’s talk the OwlCrate unboxing.

My favorite item in this box is definitely that “The Raven” blanket. It is so soft and wonderful. The book is not one that I’m really interested in reading, but I do have a couple of friends who would probably really enjoy it, so I’m going to pass it on to someone who will appreciate it more.

Oh, and next month I’ll have a lot more OwlCrate to talk about. I got the Owlcrate special edition of A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik, plus my standard October OwlCrate box, PLUS the special edition box for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. So there will be a lot of OwlCrate to enjoy.

All right, and now let’s talk about my possible October TBR. I’ve been pretty bad about following TBRs the past few months, so I’m not going to hold myself to this list, but we’ll see. It has some re-reads and some new reads, but mostly these are books that I think will fit the vibe of October.

So this list has a couple of ARCs, a couple spooky reads, a couple of monstrous reads, and a couple fantasy adventures, which just feels right with the cooling fall weather. So, we’ll see how well I’ll be able to tackle this list…plus a few others, because I know there are some October releases I’m really hoping to read too.
