Most Anticipated Releases Summer 2020

Hey all, Dani here.

You know, it feels weird to be writing up this post about anticipating anything right now. The world is still just absolute chaos, and events are being canceled left and right. Several books have had publication delayed. So, I guess the first thing I want to say for this post is that I checked the release dates for these books like a week ago. If they’ve been postponed since then, I’m sorry. Work has been a bit crazy and I haven’t been able to stay 100% on top of all the bookish news.

Anyway, this is a post series that I’ve been doing for at least a few years now, and I look at a season of book releases quarterly. For today’s post I’m looking at those summer releases, AKA books coming out in June, July, and August. There might be some missing here, but that could be because I’m behind on the series, or because the book didn’t pop up on my radar, whatever. Obviously, I’d love to hear what books you’re looking forward to as well, so give some bookish love by shouting out some titles and releases in the comments.

Do I have almost 30 books on my list this time around? Why yes, yes I do. What can I say? I’m in the mood to support all the authors I can, and buy as many books as I can afford to pick up. This also means supporting my local bookstores as well. So that’s a win-win-win.

Okay, let’s get started…with June.

My Calamity Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows (June 2), Black Clover Volume 21 by Yuki Tabata (June 2), My Hero Academia Volume 24 by Kohei Horikoshi (June 2), A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown (June 2), Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee (June 23), Hunted by the Sky by Tanaz Bhathena (June 23), The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant (June 2), The Ghosts of Sherwood by Carrie Vaughn (June 9), Goddess in the Machine by Lora Beth Johnson (June 30), Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano (June 23)

I have ARCs through NetGalley for The Court of Miracles and The Ghosts of Sherwood, so I’m really hoping to be able to read them very soon and get reviews up.

Now on to July

Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim (July 7), The Shadow of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee (July 21), Shielded by KayLynn Flanders (July 21), The Lost City by Amanda Hocking (July 7), The Faithless Hawk by Margaret Owen (July 28), The Princess Will Save You by Sarah Henning (July 7), Scullion by Jarad Greene (July 7), One-Punch Man Volume 20 by ONE (July 7), The Damned by Renee Ahdieh (July 7)

For the month of July I have ARCs through NetGalley for Shielded, The Lost City, and Scullion.

Finally there’s August

Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston (Aug 4), Where Dreams Descend by Janelle Angeles (Aug 25), Ten Arrows of Iron by Sam Sykes (Aug 4), The Morning Flower by Amanda Hocking (Aug 4), Twin Daggers by Marcy Kate Connolly (Aug 25), Paula Santiago and the River of Tears by Tehlor Kay Mejia (Aug 4), Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (Aug 4), Set Fire to the Gods by Sara Raasch and Kristen Simmons (Aug 4), Ignite the Sun by Hanna Howard (Aug 18), Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar (Aug 11), and Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho (Aug 18)

Right now I have ARCs through NetGalley for Twin Daggers and The Morning Flower.

All right, well that’s all the books I can think of right now. It’s quite a list. I’m excited to read so very many books in the summer season. And hopefully I’ll be able to balance reading time with my writing time, considering I also need to have time for my full-time job, plus time to sleep…it’s a lot to juggle. But you know what? I love doing it, so it’s a worthwhile juggle.

I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.

  1. Forest of souls, A song of wraiths and ruin, where dreams descend and Vicious spirits are so high on my TBR! I can’t wait to read them!
