Manga Review: Fairy Tail Volume 7

Hey all, Dani here.

At the time this posts goes live, I will be finishing my first day of work back at my old job. If I’m lucky then it was an easy day, but if not then I’m sure to be completely worn out and sore. So I guess you’ll find out which with tomorrow’s posts, lol. Anyway, you know, I have had a whole lot of posts get published since the start of the month. Seriously, most days I’ve had two posts go up, which is pretty darn impressive.

Anyway, welcome to my only manga post for today, since today is a Calendar Girls day. But I’ll be back up to the dual-post Manga Monday next week. I still have a whole lot of manga reads to discuss.

Oh, speaking of manga, Barnes & Noble is currently running a sale on manga from VIZ Media right now. Buy two and get the third free. This sale is running until April 20th. I guess I should also say that this post is not at all sponsored, but I feel the need to share good deals when I know about them.

Okay, let’s jump into the review.

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 stars

I read this particular volume during Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon in October 2019. And this is actually the last volume I’ve read in this series, though I’ve watched all but the final season of the anime. And since I’m trying to do a Fairy Tail review every other week, I guess I’ll be picking up the next few volumes soon, which is fine since I own 42 of the 63 volumes. I’m just waiting for a Kodansha Comics manga deal from B&N to pick up the rest.

Anyway, this volume continues the guild war between Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail that started last volume, and the cover features the Elements 4, a rather strong group of members of the Phantom Lord guild. Of course, this means we are starting to get to know Juvia, the water woman of the Elements 4, who is very dreary and moody and it just seems to rain wherever she goes. She’s actually a pretty interesting character, and I already know her overall story arc, but I am trying not to talk about future events right now.

Also, what I really have to love about Fairy Tail is that they are known as one of the strongest and most destructive guilds in their homeland, and so of course when Phantom Lord attacks the guildhall and seriously injures a few members, some of the most powerful and destructive members of Fairy Tail, you know–like Natsu, is going to pull a team together to do a massive payback assault. Phantom Lord definitely picked the wrong guild/people to go after. Fairy Tail doesn’t give up and they fight for their own. It’s pretty darn great.
