Weekly Wrap-Up (41)

How is everyone doing today? I’ll be honest in saying that I am very very sore. My training for my really cool newsletter/office position at work ended, and so it is my first week back to my normal old routine, but my body isn’t used to it and so all of my muscles are on fire. I will definitely be taking it super easy this weekend. Though we’ve also talked about doing some cleaning and organizing around the house. I think my bookshelves need a little looking at, especially after those big hauls and unhauls I’ve been doing lately.

Oh, and in other news, Damian and I got a few of the windows of our house replaced today. Because of the cost we couldn’t afford to get all ten windows replaced, but we did the main three (our living room, dining room, and kitchen) and they look so great. It’s such a small change to the house overall but it’s amazing what just replacing a few windows does to the value of a house.

Before I jump into the standard wrap-up portion of this post, I will also say that I am in the middle of playing through both the re-release of Link’s Awakening for the Nintendo Switch and the new Pokemon Shield game. I’m working on collecting the fourth instrument for Link, and I’m leveling up before I take on the fifth gym leader in Pokemon. Damian already beat his Pokemon Sword game, but I’m trying to balance game time with reading time and TV time, so I still have a ways to go.

Speaking of TV time, let’s start the wrap-up with my watches over the last week: I finished season two of “Arrow” and have started my re-watch of season three. Damian and I watched “Detective Pikachu,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “Minions,” “Home Alone,” and “Shrek.” Not a bad week of watches. Oh, almost forgot, yes, we watched the newest episode of “The Mandalorian” as well.

Okay, now for reads. I finished Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren, read Slay by Brittney Morris, and Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi. The latter two books were my first reads for Diverse December, and while I liked one a great deal more than the other, I am nevertheless excited to have read them and to be working on review posts that should be up sometime soon.

My current reads are Tweet Cute by Emma and The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams. And I’m excited that I can include Bromance in my Diverse December reads because the main character has a stutter, which is apparent even just a few pages in. I am happy to be reading this one because the concept is really cool and I’ve heard great things about it. Sadly my review for Tweet will have to wait until January, but it’s totally cool because I’m happy to say that I’m actually part of the blog tour for it’s release. I’m reading it on my phone whenever I have a few random moments and I can’t grab my physical book read. So far I’m really enjoying it.

As for what I’m reading next, well I think I’m leaning towards Crier’s War by Nina Varela, The Bird and the Blade by Megan Bannen, Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao, and Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan. So yeah, I’m expecting some pretty great reading this month. I’m excited about so many of the books on my TBR for the month, as well as some of the books I’m being approved for on NetGalley to start off 2020. It’s shaping up to be an excellent time for my reading life and the future content on this blog.
