Manga Review: Delicious in Dungeon, Vol 5

Where has the time gone? I’m sorry that I’ve missed a bunch of posts. November has turned out to be a pretty darn busy time, and I couldn’t manage to keep up with everything. Sadly that meant that my attempt to post every day has somewhat come to an end. I still have a whole lot of content I can and will post, so for the moment I’m going to use this little break to recharge, and do a few posts, but I’ll perhaps get back to my regular posting schedule in the new year.

Oh, I will say right here and now that the summary for this volume has spoilers for the previous volume, so if you haven’t read this series, you might want to come back to this post at another time.

Summary

The party has defeated the Red Dragon and rescued Farin! But their quest won’t be finished until they make it back out of the dungeon unscathed. The adventure’s not complete until everyone returns alive…and full!

My Thoughts

Rating: 4 stars

Okay, so this volume felt very much like an awkward transition to me. They had finished up a big story arc involving tracking down the dragon and rescuing Farin. So there was a need to start and lay down the groundwork for the next major story arc. Unfortunately it just felt very disjointed to me and one adventure didn’t flow into another as well as it could have.

Still, I like the implications that there is more going on, and that we have a lot more to learn about this dungeon. Plus, hey, I bet there is still plenty to explore, and a lot more delicious food to prepare.

My biggest complaint is that this is one of those series that releases very slowly, like maybe one volume a year. I guess I get so spoiled and used to series like My Hero Academia or Black Clover, which are released every other month. But hey, volume 6 came out last year, so I can get that and read it, and volume 7 is out tomorrow, so I guess I still have a little bit of reading to be fully caught up on this series.
