Manga Review: Bungo Stray Dogs, Vol. 1

Hey it’s Damian here once again with a manga review for all of you. Lots of fun stuff going to be happening over the next few weeks which I hope means more stuff to post about on here. Well, without further ado here’s the review.

Summary

Ejected from the orphanage that had been his home, a despairing bit with no prospects in life names Atsushi Nakajima rescues a peculiar man from a suicide attempt- Osamu Dazai. It turns out that Dazai is part of an armed detective agency staffed by individuals whose supernatural powers take on a literary bent!

When Nakajima is engaged by Dazai and his associate Kunikada to hunt down a man-eating tiger terrorizing the region, little does Nakajima suspect the encounter will transform his life forever!

Review

Rating: 3.5 stars

I’m honestly not sure how to take this one in. The cast of characters are a bit strange which I can handle but it’s the story as of this book that I’m not sure about. I’d like to give the next books in the series a chance before deciding whether I will continue on. I just didn’t quite get into this as I would have wanted but I am not going to write it off like I have a few others. I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for manga that have characters with unique abilities so that may be why I am choosing to give it another go with the next volume later on. Just because I have this one the rating I gave it doesn’t mean I don’t like it, I just felt this volume was lacking for some reason.
