Hey all, Dani here.
It’s the final week of August already. Just wow. Of course I’m really looking forward to this weekend because it is a long holiday weekend. To be fair though, Damian and I have big plans: a family reunion, a couple nights in a hotel, and a full day running around the Renaissance Festival and getting ideas and more planning done for our wedding next year. If I haven’t mentioned it before, we’re sort of having a Ren Faire themed wedding. Oh, and naturally I’m hoping to get quite a bit of reading done as well.
But first I have to get through the work week. Our Monday is now over, so there’s just three more work shifts to go. We can do it. And we can keep talking about books and other geekery until then.
Speaking of, let’s jump into today’s Manga Monday review.

My Thoughts
Rating: 5 stars
After the intense battle of the Water Temple, especially considering how many of the Black Bulls majorly surpassed their limits. But the battle wasn’t without consequences, and frankly, one of the most interesting aspects of this volume is seeing how everyone handles the biggest consequence from the last volume, namely Asta’s useless arms.
Here’s where we get to really see Asta’s fierce determination shine through. It would be so easy for him to give up now, but you know that as soon as the invasion starts to happen, Asta can’t allow himself to sit on the sidelines while his friends put themselves out there to protect the kingdom.
And you definitely see the others rise to Asta’s example as well.
Oh, and if I remember right, this volume is also where you start to see how powerful Charmy really is. Sure, she is obsessed with food, and so she seems sort of lazy using her magic to make sheep chefs to cook for her, but when push comes to shove–or rather when delicious food is in danger–Charmy shows just how amazing her magic really is. I love how as the series progresses we get to have these smaller story lines where we get to learn more about the rest of the Black Bulls, how they got where they are, what they’re into, and what they can be capable of when they actually try.
With the Fairy Tail manga all wrapped up, and the anime nearing completion, I would absolutely argue that Black Clover is the natural successor in both manga and anime. The Fairy Tail Guild would probably get along with the Black Bulls, and by that I mean that they are all powerful, awesome, determined, loyal, and most of the time destructive individuals. It’s fun to compare the two…but I’ll probably worry about that in a different post.
I’ll just say that I still absolutely love this series, and I’m glad I’m reading it, especially since right now I don’t have good enough Internet to be able to watch all of the anime.
