July Wrap Up

It’s my birthday and I’m sitting in panels, ooh yeah, writing panels. LOL. Hello everybody. Yes, I wrote this intro before we actually got started with Gen Con, so this paragraph may just be pretty vague. Oh well, there’s nothing I can really do to help that. You will definitely be getting the specifics very soon, since Damian wants to do daily wrap-ups. Be looking for the Thursday AKA Gen Con Day One post tomorrow…as well as my regularly scheduled Friday Recommendations post. This time around I’m talking about Tabletop Games, so that should be fun.

First off, as I have every monthly wrap up this year, let’s start by going over my progress with my 2019 goals.

• Reading: Still doing fantastic with this one. I increased my Goodreads goal to 150 books, but I don’t know, if I have a reading month in August like I did in July then I might need to increase the goal again. Umm…yeah, I think I read 31 books this month. It was a great month of reading.
• Blogging: It was also a great month for blogging. Yes, there was one day in July where I skipped my usual post, but I made up for it with a few bonus posts towards the end of the month. In total there were 35 posts that went up on Mousai Books in July, so I think that’s great.
• Writing: I wrote a little bit! Not a whole lot, though I did do a bit more character work, and I tried to get some semblance of an outline going and stuff. It’s not a whole lot of progress, but it’s something. And I plan to keep working on improving my updates in this section of my wrap-up posts, so we’ll see what August has in store.
• Conventions: Well, I’m at Gen Con right now, so yay, conventions! I had this post prepped up before we left for Indianapolis, so I don’t have a detailed update for this one, but it’s a safe guess that I’m having a great time, and hopefully these writing panels are going to help me with my own writing. And after we’ve finished with this weekend, Damian and I will be shifting our focus to Cincinnati Comic Expo, which takes place in September. We will be working at the Colorworld Books booth, and it should be a great time.

Next up is the book haul and OwlCrate unboxing portions of my monthly wrap up. Now, I’m betting that I did pick up some stuff yesterday–we almost always hit up the comic book store, but that will be included in the Gen Con Wrap Up Posts, so be sure to check that out.

OwlCrate – So there were a lot of interesting goodies in the box this month. I’m definitely glad to have the next exclusive mug in the Harry Potter collection, because they just might be my favorite mugs to use. I also really enjoy the playing cards, the art prints, and the puzzle.

Finally, it’s time to talk August TBR. I am participating in the NEWTs Magical Readathon, so most of my TBR will be focused on that. For the rest of my TBR, I am focusing on NetGalley ARCs, because I have a bunch of September releases and I’d like to get their reviews up by their respective release dates. Also, NetGalley is hosting #Reviewathon until August 30th. You can find my TBR post on the blog already.

I’m actually pretty excited about my TBR for August. I’m really hoping to improve my review ratio on NetGalley, so this should definitely help with that.
