Weekly Wrap-Up (24)

Hey all, Dani here.

At the time this post goes live on my blog, we should be either at an Irish pub, enjoying some delicious shepard’s pie, or at a Scottish pub, enjoying scotch eggs. I am not typically someone who does the whole bar hopping thing; it’s usually not fun for me. But considering I’m with people who are more into the food and atmosphere than drinking themselves silly, I enjoy it while we’re in Indianapolis for Gen Con.

It was another pretty good week for reading, helped of course by the fact that I didn’t have to work the past couple of days. So let’s go ahead and get into a quick wrap up of everything I’ve read and watched in the past week, as well as what I’m reading now, and what I plan/hope to read over the rest of the weekend.

The first book I completed was The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen. Of course it was also The Reading Rush time, so my reading took a boost when I decided to go on a reading binge on Sunday. I read Akame Ga Kill! Zero Vol 1, One-Punch Man Vol 5, Delicious in Dungeon Vol 4, Spice & Wolf Vol 1, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol 2, and Fullmetal Alchemist 3-in-1 Vol 1-2-3. Then on Monday I picked The Rise of Kyoshi back up and finished it.

My current read is what I’m carrying with me around Indianapolis, because we have discovered that it is wonderful to show up for Gen Con the day before the convention. It gives us time to pick up our tickets before the convention center is swarmed by fellow geeks, and then we also get to hang out and relax, and probably the biggest part of it is that we don’t have to wake up super early on Thursday to make the three and a half hour drive.

I finalized my Gen Con reading list and I’m pretty happy with it. The books I’m hoping to read during Dewey’s 24 Hour Reverse Summer Readathon are The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan. Both of these books are re-reads for me, which I think will work perfectly for this readathon, and I also just feel like I want to read them again.

My other books I have with me for the duration of Gen Con and may or may not be read include The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin, Green Rider by Kristen Britain, Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard, and The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.
