Happy Monday, everyone! Man, it was a very hot weekend. But we are that much closer to vacation time and our trip to Gen Con. Just over a week to go. All I need to do is make it through this week–Damian sadly doesn’t have as many vacation days as me, so he has to work the first half of next week as well.
Anyway, today is another post in my ongoing Manga Monday review series, so let’s get started.

This is one of the first books I read in 2019. I figured I would start my Goodreads Reading Challenge out strong by reading a few volumes of manga in the first couple days of the year. As it turns out, 2019 has been an excellent year for reading so I didn’t need to worry about that, but I’m not going to complain about how many great books I’ve managed to complete.
This one is a great continuation of the series. After the high intensity of the battle with the Eye of the Midnight Sun, we now pretty much jump straight into the aftermath, which includes the political intrigue of trying to discover who the traitor to the Magic Knights is.
I have to admit that I would have been devastated if the traitor ended up being one of the characters I’m growing to care for…so pretty much all of the Black Bulls and a few others.
I love the complexities that are getting revealed about the characters and the world as this story progresses. It started off fairly simple, with the focus on Asta and Yuno from a tiny village on their quest to go to the capitol and become Magic Knights. Then we start learning more about the capitol, the Magic Knights, the history of the country, political intrigue with the surrounding countries…it just keeps building and growing the deeper we get in. It’s great that we don’t just get dumped into the deep end of the world-building, that we have time to get to know characters and concepts a bit before more information is revealed.
This absolutely has to be one of my favorite manga series, and I definitely recommend it.
