It has been a minute or two since I did my last award post or book tag post, so now seems like a good time for it. Thank you so much to Naty of Naty’s Bookshelf for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award, and go check out Naty’s blog because it is really great. Honestly, even though I typically take months to finally post awards/tags, I really enjoy getting nominated for these and getting to answer fun questions that aren’t always completely focused on books. I think it helps us all get to know each other better, which is pretty darn cool.

Okay, let’s get started.

All right, now it’s time for the questions Naty asked me.

1. What standalone book never fails to make you happy?

   Hmm…I would probably have to go with a geeky contemporary book, so something like Geekerella, Kat and Meg Conquer the World, Chaotic Good, or Now a Major Motion Picture.
   

   

   

   

   
2. And a series?

   Oh goodness. This is a tough one. I mean, Harry Potter generally gives me good feels and nostalgia vibes. But overall I think I’ll go with the Colorworld series by Rachel E Kelly. Yes, it doesn’t always make me happy; there have been scenes that wreck me emotionally, but it is an absolutely wonderful series, and I’m glad that I get to be part of Team Colorworld and see where the story takes all of us.
   

   

   

   

   

   

   

   
3. What’s your favorite dessert?

   Look…non-bookish question. I have such a sweet tooth sometimes, so there’s a lot of desserts I really like. But for this I’ll go with Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie, or maybe Baklava. Really my favorite dessert depends on the mood I’m in at the moment. Plus, there are just so many delicious options out there.

5. What is one upbeat song you recommend?

   I think I’m just going to pick a band and let you peruse at your leisure. Go listen to pretty much anything by Amaranthe. They are a Swedish heavy metal band, but with heavy dance/techno influences, so they just end up being really fun to listen to…and as I just found out while answering this question, they have a new album out (October 19th release), so I’ll have to buy that on pay day.

6. Favorite beverage?

   Sweet tea. Wow, that was the easiest question to answer so far.

7. What is your favorite kind of posts to write in your blog?

   I like writing reviews and I like doing tags. It is just nice to talk about the books I’ve been reading, as well as to talk about life and geekdom in general, which tags are sometimes great at.

8. What fantasy world would you spend vacations in, if you could?

   What’s with these difficult questions? Every time I go to put down a fantasy world, I think of the dangers or hazards of those worlds, and then I think of another option. Can I just say that I would want to spend my vacations traveling to different fantasy worlds, specifically to check out libraries in each of them?

9. What book describes your life/personality?

   Well, I’m working on writing that book right now…so I guess I’ll have to pick something else. While I could mention Kat and Meg again or Chaotic Good, I’m going to go with another option. I’ll choose Eliza and Her Monsters, because I so related to Eliza’s creativity and having an online fandom life versus real life. Yes, I am a fiction writer, not a comic writer, there was so much I connected with while reading the book.
   

10. How do you choose the next book you read – mood or planning?

    I am absolutely a mood reader. There are occasions where I can make a reading plan and stick to it, but even when I plan my monthly TBRs I realize that if I am lucky I will manage to get around to half the books on my list. But I’ve read 130 books so far this year, so obviously I am okay with the way I choose what to read, and I definitely don’t feel the need to push myself to read something I’m not in the mood for.

11. What was the last book you bought?

    Umm…the last book I bought was Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. I hope to read that one soon-ish because it sounds really intriguing. Actually I did read the first chapter just to get a first impression on the book, and I think it is going to be a really good read.
