Hey all, Sam and David here.
Somehow, once again, it is the middle of the week already. It feels like January stretched on for a long time, but February is flying past. Is that because it’s the shortest month? I don’t know. But we have less than a week left this month, and that’s a bit crazy to think about. And since it’s Wednesday, that means it is the time of the week where we get to sit down and talk briefly about everything that we’ve done, read, watched, and played in the past week.
It was actually a pretty decent week overall, although I think we both wish we’d been able to accomplish a little more. But that’s probably the way that a lot of us feel a lot of the time. It’s okay to not be overachievers, to give yourself time to relax and be lazy.
All right, I guess it’s time to just go ahead and dive right in.
Sam
I’m still working on getting myself more organized and to find a nice balance between work and relaxation. It’s a long and convoluted process, but in the end I’m sure it’ll all be worth it.

Reading: Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft–Orphan of Agony Isle by Casey Gilly and Bayleigh Underwood, Mysteries of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson
Okay, it was a slow week for completing reads, but I have quite a few that are in progress, which I could talk about here, but I think when it comes to reads I’m only going to focus on what I’ve finished. I’ve had a number of times where I’ll stop reading a book about halfway through, not because the book isn’t interesting, but because my mood shifted and the book will sit there in a half-read limbo for days, weeks, or possibly months before I pick it up again. So I don’t want to talk about in progress reads and then have them vanish from these updates because I had to set them aside.
Anyway I should be completing some of my in progress reads and then reviewing them soon, which is pretty cool. I’m not fully back to the desire to read all the time, but I’m at least feeling a bit more consistent about wanting to read a bit more frequently.
And there are so many new releases and upcoming releases that I’m very excited about, and really hoping to read as soon as I can.
Watching: “Gilmore Girls” Season 3 (in progress), “Nashville” Season 1 and Season 2 (in progress), “The Flash” Season 1 and Season 2 (in progress), “Not Dead Yet” Episodes 1-3, continuing to catch up on “Critical Role” Campaign 3, “The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent” Season 1 (in progress)
So yeah, I’m mostly doing binge re-watches right now, but there’s nothing wrong with comfort re-watches to get you through the days/weeks. While I have access to Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Peacock for streaming purposes, I don’t really have any Live TV/DVR options…which is fine. I’d rather be able to sit down and binge-watch things anyway.
I know that I’m getting very excited for things like the upcoming releases of “Shadow and Bone” season 2 and “The Mandalorian” Season 3, as well as the farther away releases of “Wheel of Time” Season 2, “Bridgerton” Season 3, and “The Witcher” Season 3. And then the even farther away releases of “The Legend of Vox Machina” Season 3 and the first season of the new “Mighty Nein” animated show (but those are probably 2024 releases).
Writing: I actually have been writing a little bit. Aside from the blogging, that is, because obviously I’ve been writing a good deal for the blog. But I’ve written a little bit on a few different stories, and I’ll be sharing a couple writing snippets with the Weekend Writer post on Friday, so I hope y’all stop by then to check it out and tell me what you think.
I still really need to get back to my daily writing on 4thewords, and get back to working on my novel, because I had set myself a goal of finishing the initial draft by mid-April. I might push that back to the end of April, but I don’t want to delay it too much. I want to get writing and then editing, so that I might be able to get back to the idea of publishing my works.
Other: We went over to a friends for a game night and played a new-to-us board game called Trekking. We’ll probably review that on an upcoming Tabletop Tuesday. But after a couple games of Trekking we played a few rounds of New Phone Who Dis? All in all, it made for a pretty fun evening. Hopefully we’ll be able to start doing these game nights more regularly.
And I continue to check on the 3D printers every day, which is pretty cool. We’re printing some really fun figures, and I really like seeing them as they slowly print, layer by layer. Okay, I don’t just sit there and watch them the whole time. I check in about once an hour or so, but it’s still fun to see how the prints grow with each check in. We’ll have to work on taking a whole bunch of photos and start posting them up on our Facebook page and our Instagram accounts.

Gaming: So I started playing a game call Warframe over my weekend. Got to say I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I even ended up taking the quick route to getting some of the different characters and bought them. I don’t usually do that in games. I enjoy the different kinds of missions you can do either by yourself or with friends, even across different platforms.
Anime: So I ended up watching a short anime series and caught myself up with another.
I watched all 12 episodes of an anime called Isekai Cheat Magician. Honest review is that i didn’t enjoy it as much as I would’ve liked to. The main guy was summoned to another world and because of a mishap his female friend is also sent for the ride. They were granted a vast amount of magical potential and ability and are immediately given training by a powerful mage. The designing of the world and the fights scenes were pretty cool. I felt there was a lack of development of the main character and honestly not enough time with them to get a good feel for the stories progression. I will most likely not be continuing that one if it is given another season.
The anime that I managed to get caught up on was one I actually started reading as a manga. By the Grace of the Gods is an adorable Isekai that follows a workaholic who died in an embarrassing way only to be sent to another world by the gods of that world. He is given a body and starts on his adventure by taming slimes and figuring out all the weird and wonderful things these creatures can do. Until one day he comes across others and finds out just how extraordinary the gifts granted by these friendly gods is.

3d Printing: a couple if the machines are down again. One is having issues staying heated at a proper temperature, the other the feeding mechanism for the filament broke and will need replaced. Other than that their has been a constant stock of things being made and each one is cooler than the last. Just added a hippocampus or two as well as some rainbow colored nightwing dragons. Hoping to actually get a proper inventory so we know what all we are working with.
