Hey all, Sam and David back today.
How is it the middle of the week again already? Wow. Okay, well I guess that means we are back to talk about everything we’ve done over the past week. Oh, something that I know I’m not talking about in the rest of the post is the excitement for “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which is coming out this weekend. We’ve been going to the theater and seeing superhero movies together for pretty much our whole relationship. Our first date was actually going to see the new “Power Rangers” movie, which I’d argue is a superhero film. So yeah, we have a movie date this weekend, because our local theater might actually be one of our all time favorite theaters. You get the movie, a popcorn, and a drink for the price that we would normally have just gotten the movie back in Ohio. It’s pretty fantastic.
Okay, so I guess we should just go ahead and talk about what we’re up to.
Sam

Reading: Mighty Nein Origins: Nott the Brave by Sam Maggs, William Kirkby, Sam Riegel, Matthew Mercer, Eren Angiolini, Ariana Maher, and Mildred Louis, Dungeons & Dragons: The Adventure Begins! a Little Golden Book by Dennis R. Shealy, Necromance by Yuuki Doumoto, The Pearl Hunter by Miya T. Beck
Those are the books that I’ve finished in the past week. I’m in the middle of reading a whole bunch of things, because my reading mood has been a little bit all over the place, so I won’t talk about my current reads, but you’ll hear about them as soon as I can get them finished. I’m still hoping that I’ll be able to keep up with my reading and not fall into yet another reading slump. I’m still working my way out of both my reading slump and my creativity slump.
Watching: We have finished watching “The Legend of Vox Machina” Season 2, and have particularly watched “The Killbox” episode like three times. And I imagine that we’ll end up watching the full season in a binge at least a couple more times in the near future, as well as sporadically over the course of the next year. Let’s see, we also watched “Repo: the Genetic Opera,” because it is one of our favorite movies. And when I’m working on blogging or I’m reading or whatever, I’ve been putting “Gilmore Girls” on in the background. I’ve finished season 1 and I’m nearing the end of season 2. And I started a rewatch of “The Flash” as well, because sometimes you just want a superhero show going on in the background while doing other things.
Playing: I haven’t really played much of anything in the past week, so I don’t really have an update for this section.
Writing: Obviously I’ve written up a bunch of blog posts over the last week, but I’m also happy to report that I’ve worked on a couple short stories, mostly relating to some TTRPG characters. Perhaps I’ll do a post sometime about my approach to designing and playing characters, but I like to broaden my understanding of them by writing stories. Sometimes those are backstory events that helped shape the character, or stuff that happened during downtime that wasn’t expanded upon at the table, or sometimes I’ll write a scene that did happen during a session, but will include all the thoughts and feelings of the character because the scene felt important. So yeah, I’ve worked on a couple of stories. I need to get back to work on my novels. Hopefully I’ll be able to say more about that in a future post.
Other: Well, we’ve done a bit of bowling in the past week or so, including playing a few games with my mom when we did that weekend visit back to Ohio. It was pretty fun. And it feels like we’re getting a bit more consistent overall with our bowling styles. Our games end with more consistent scores too, which is pretty great.
Oh, and I guess I should also say that I’ve been babysitting David’s 3D printers. I don’t do too much, just take the print off when it’s finished and then start the printer on the next print. But it is cool to be able to help him with the printers, especially while he is away at work.
David
Okay so the new job has been keeping me busy, however that does not mean I have not had time for a least a little bit of nerd stuff over the last week. My section will be a bit short this time around but things seem to be cooking as we work to see how work life balance goes.
Miniatures: So i did manage to get a bit of painting in on some Warhammer: Age of Sigmar figures. More specifically some of the Stormcast Eternals. I managed to get a nice base coat on all of them, but only managed to get one of them finished.
I did however make a bit more progress on the Oathsworn: Into the Deepwood miniatures. I posted the first couple on Instagram a few weeks back and I have now completed three and gotten about halfway with a fourth.

3D Printing: So on this front the printers are still going pretty strong, and Sam has learned a few things to make sure we keep up production. I have purchased a few files for some personal use cosplays for the few conventions I have a few ideas and want to know what everyone would want to see more. I will be trying to make one of the following: Heavy Artillery Mandolorian, Goblin Slayer, Pokemon Trainer, or Yugi Moto’s Grandpa trapped in a card. Regardless when I do finally pick one I will post pictures of the progress.
All right, well that is all from us for today. Feel free to share what you’ve been up to down in the comments. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
