Hey all, Dani here.
All right, well I realize that we are at the end of the month of July, but I wanted to space out my May and June book hauls just a little bit, so here we are. Plus, I’m kinda hoping I’ll be able to get my July haul up around this time next week…though that really depends on if I get my OwlCrate before then or not.
I went on two book buying trips in the month of June. For the first I met up with a friend of mine who is preparing to start her very own BookTube channel, and wanted to check out The Book Loft of German Village, which is one of my favorite indie bookshops to visit. She had never been and I was more than happy to go with her. I think we’ll go back another time (probably later in the evening) so we can film a video for her channel, but it was still a really fun time. I picked up seven books on that trip and it was definitely worth the experience. The second book trip was later in the month, and I went to Barnes & Noble. Oh, and in the middle of both of those trips I did pick up a random book when I went to the grocery store one day, so that was fun.
Okay, let’s go over all the books I picked up in June.
Photo Two: Crush by Tracy Wolff, Covet by Tracy Wolff, The Kinder Poison by Natalie Mae, and The Coward by Stephan Aryan
Photo Three: Star eater by Kerstin Hall, The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri, For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten, Broken Web by Lori M. Lee, and What We Devour by Linsey Miller
Photo Four: Curse of the Specter Queen by Jenny Elder Moke, Witchshadow by Susan Dennard, Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey, Black Clover Vol 25 by Yuki Tabata, and My Hero Academia Vol 28 by Kohei Horikoshi
Obviously this month, as with most months, I bought a lot of fantasy. What can I say? It is my favorite genre to read. But it is also such a varied genre with so many possibilities to it, and that makes me super happy.
I actually believe I have reviews for a few of these books either already posted or coming sometime this week. I’ve been working on trying to write up some of these ahead of time, and in the haze of writing and scheduling I don’t remember which posts are scheduled for when. I could fix this issue of not knowing by pulling out my blogging planner and looking at what I’ve planned out, but I’m sort of in the blogging groove right now so…I know The Library of the Dead was reviewed last week, and I know I’ve already written up the reviews for For the Wolf and Very Sincerely Yours, so if they aren’t posted yet know that they are coming soon.
And I planned to go on a little manga reading binge last weekend, so I might actually have read both of the volumes in this haul as well. This also means I might be reviving my Manga Monday reviews sometime soon enough. We’ll see. Again, I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself just yet.
Okay, now moving on to the OwlCrate Unboxing. The June theme was Go Your Own Way, and I’ll be completely honest: I at first thought it was going to be a different book, based on the description of the book, and I was prepared to be a little less excited about it. But with the shipping delays and all of that, I had more time to think about it and I realized that the art on the June theme announcement just didn’t match the book I thought it was, and usually there’s color choices or depictions on the theme announcement post that really hint towards the book…so I looked into it again and managed to figure out the correct book a week or so before my box arrived.
All right, let’s look at what was inside:
I liked this box and feel that it was worth the slight delay. I have no idea which item or items caused the delay, but whatever. That’s not actually super important. But there is a water bottle that is really cute in here…and there is a lunch box that I’ll probably end up using at some point…and oh man, that bottle opener might be my favorite thing in here…and that art print is really nice too. Also, I rather like the OwlCrate edition of the book cover; that color change is really nice.
All right, I do believe that is all from me for today. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
I finished The Jasmine Throne last week and absolutely loved it!
