Weekly Wrap-Up (76)

Hey all, Dani here.

Wow, what a week. It was actually really nice to be lazy in a hotel room for several days. While Gen Con Online didn’t have the same hustle and bustle, and excitement that we’re used to, it still offered a pretty good time. Many of the Writer’s Symposium panels are available on YouTube, so you can check those out if you’re interested. I didn’t get as much reading done as I was hoping to, but overall it was still a nice time. We enjoyed having a super comfy bed and good internet, oh, and air conditioning. That was pretty nice too.

Going back to work was not as much fun, which is something we still haven’t gotten used to after every geeky excursion/mini-vacation.

Okay, so I guess it’s about time to jump into this week’s wrap up of everything we did and watched and read, so let’s get started.

No video gaming in the past week.

On the watches list though, I actually have quite a bit. We finished both Season 4 and Season 5 of “Warehouse 13,” we finally managed to sit down and watch the final season of “Fairy Tail,” and I also managed to finish the first season of the new “Fruits Basket” adaptation, as well as making it a few episodes into season two. Oh, and we watched about a dozen episodes of Season 4 of “My Hero Academia.” So yeah, it was a pretty productive week/weekend.

As for what I’ve finished reading in the last week, well, I guess I have finished a couple books, so that’s better than nothing. Two of those books were read at the very end of July, so really I’ve only read one volume of manga so far in August, which doesn’t feel like a lot of reading, but it’s still very early in the month. If I keep up with what seems to be the norm for me now, I’ll be reading 20-25 books this month as well. I honestly have no idea how I’m managing to read that much while being so busy with other things as well. It’s just mind-boggling.

Then there’s what I’m in the middle of reading right now, which is quite a bit, honestly. I’m taking City of Brass with me to work and re-reading it, and I remembered that it was a really good book, but I’ll be honest and say that I don’t remember a whole lot about what happens. I guess that’s what can happen when you read 200+ books a year and you read the first book of the trilogy back in like 2017. The Rage of Dragons is the book sitting on my bedside table and I’ve been reading a chapter or two before bed just about every night. It’s good so far. And then I keep setting The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind aside to read other books, which is not very nice because it’s an entertaining book and an easy read so far.

Oh, and I guess I didn’t realize that Dewey’s Reverse Summer 24 Hour Readathon is this weekend. Normally Dewey’s Readathon takes place in April and October and it is on a Saturday/Sunday–for me running from 8am until 8am, but the Reverse Summer Readathon goes from 8pm until 8pm. So the Reverse Readathon is August 7-8.

I was already planning to try and accomplish a bunch of reading this weekend, so having a readathon just gives me even more of an excuse to read.

So here’s what I’m hoping to finish reading/read/start reading.

It looks like a pretty hefty TBR, and I honestly don’t expect to finish all of these books, but I’m still going to try. Oh, and the photo has The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen in it, but I’m using it as a stand-in for the sequel, The Faithless Hawk, which I was just approved for on NetGalley and I plan to have it finished by this weekend. It could actually be finished before the readathon. I don’t know. I literally just downloaded it a few minutes ago, so I’ll probably start reading it after work tomorrow.
