Weekly Wrap-Up (64)

Hey all, Dani here.

I actually got a pretty good sleep in today, which feels nice. But I’m still waiting to find out exactly what’s going to happen for me at work. Will they keep me on the night shift? Will I go back to day shift? The uncertainty makes it a little difficult to plan things.

In other news Damian and I finally scheduled a weekend getaway, because we desperately need to get away from our normal routine a little bit. We have booked a 3 night stay at a cabin in the Hocking Hills region right here in Ohio. It isn’t happening until Damian’s birthday in late June, so we’re hoping that maybe things will open up to the point of the hiking trails being opened…but even if that doesn’t happen, it will still be nice to hang out in the cabin and enjoy the fire pit and the hot tub and such. We just need to make it through the next few weeks and then we’ll get to relax while surrounded by nature.

Oh, speaking of other news, I’m feeling a bit more in the mood to do some creative writing, but that means I need to adjust my schedule so I have the time to do that. What that means is that I’m going to be taking weekends off from blogging, aside from the Colorworld readalong discussions, which will be on Sundays. I’m still going to post two manga posts for Manga Monday, and I’ll still have reviews on most Tuesdays/Thursdays, the Weekly Wrap-Up on Wednesdays, and Discussions/Recommendations on Fridays. But I need to give myself a little time to write my novels. I hope you all understand.

As I move into the gaming and watching section of the post, I guess I should also mention that I’m going to be limiting my Animal Crossing playtime so I can work on writing more as well. I’m just going to do a simple shell collection and check-in to the hot item of the day on a daily basis, and then about twice a week I’ll spend a little more time as I collect all my fruits and such.

For watches, we’ve been watching more “Fairy Tail,” and I’ve watched more “Fruits Basket.” I also watched the Netflix film “The Half of It,” which was good but definitely not a cutesy rom-com with a happy ending. It was more realistic and complex, and I’m glad I watched it. Oh, and we went to our local drive-in last weekend and watched “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” It ended up being a bit chilly and we were tired by the end of the movie, so we left before the second movie, “Transformers,” started, which is fine because we’ve seen it before.

This weekend one screen at the drive-in is playing “Onward” and “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” and the other screen is showing “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Knives Out.” As long as the weather is decent we might end up going on both Friday and Saturday so we can see all the movies.

Oh, and did you guys see the announcement from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Disney+? They are actually going to release the Hamilton OBC movie on July 3rd of 2020, instead of holding it off until fall 2021, so yay for good news rolling in.

I love how I can sit here and feel bummed about not reading as much as I would have wanted to, but I still read 6 books in a week. Why do I make myself feel like that isn’t an achievement. Okay, I guess technically I have a couple more hours of the Lumaworld audiobook to listen to, but I’m doing that tonight, so I figured I would go ahead and count it on my finished list because it will be finished today.

I need to put together reviews on most of these reads, so expect those to show up on the blog soon.

I had to set aside the books I still had on my currently reading list from the past couple of weeks. I had only read a chapter or two in them, and I don’t want to keep pushing myself to read something when I’m clearly not in the mood for it. And since I felt kind of in a romance mood, I decided to pick up one thick deeply researched and complex historical romance as well as a cute and steamy Regency romance, just so I could have some variety.

My mood is a bit all over the place, so I don’t know if I want to read fantasy or sci-fi or contemporary or historical romance, so here’s a selection of all the possibilities I can see being actual options to read soon.

How was the last week for you? Do anything fun? Let’s chat in the comments and I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
