Weekly Wrap-Up (63)

It is already Wednesday again, wow. Time is weird, because right now the days seem to both pass by quickly and slowly at the same time. I only have one more day of work for the week, and I am so ready for the weekend. As per usual, I’m planning on doing a lot of reading. But what I’m super super excited about is that the local drive-in movie theater is opening this weekend! They’re playing older movies, obviously–one screen is showing “Jumanji: The Next Level” and “Bad Boys for Life” and the other screen is showing “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Transformers,” but it will be so great. Damian and I are going to take our own food there instead of buying concessions–okay, we might end up buying popcorn–because our drive-in allows you to pay a few dollars and bring in outside food. But this will be our first date night out in a couple months, and I am so thrilled that we have an appropriately social distanced activity we can enjoy together.

Do I even need to say that I’ve still been playing Animal Crossing every day? It’s pretty much how I unwind after work. I should probably try to play some other games for a while.

We watched the blue alien “Avatar” movie over the last week, and did I talk last time about us finishing the final season of “Grimm,” because we did that too. Oh, and we watched a bunch more “Fairy Tail.” We’ve almost finished the Eclipse Celestial arc and then I think we’ll be starting the Tartaros arc again. We actually still need to watch the final season of “Fairy Tail” so maybe we’ll get to that pretty soon.

Oh, and I should probably give an update to my Calendar Girls Springtime Whirl progress. This reading challenge event is going on until May 11, and it is a bingo board filled with reading prompts. I’m not trying to win any of the recognition awards, but I would like to fill my board. I only have 5 more spaces to complete, so I’m thinking I should be able to knock off those last prompts fairly easily.

Anyway, I had a pretty decent reading week, and finished off a few nice sized books, a graphic novel, and a book that was an absolute throwback to my childhood and filled me with all the nostalgia feels.

Be prepared for gush-filled reviews for a few of these books coming to the blog very soon. But what I want to know is…would anyone want to see a throwback review for Animorphs #1: The Invasion because I’ll totally write up a review if people are interested in my thoughts on re-reading my childhood obsession almost 25 years later.

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t been picking up Shorefall at all this past week, which is a shame because I really want to read it. I don’t know. It’s the middle book in a trilogy and I loved the first one, but I also don’t want to find out about a cliffhanger ending and have to wait for the release of the third book. I need to just sit down and read this. Also on my current reads list is one of the thick fantasy books on my May TBR. This one definitely gives me some D&D vibes, and I’m definitely in that kind of mood after reading The Ranger of Marzanna, so I’m excited to dive deeper into this book.

Finally it’s what I’m planning to read next…and I don’t know. I could pick up Drums of Autumn or Master of Sorrows to read more from my big book TBR, but I’m also maybe kinda feeling in the mood for a period romance, so I may pick up one of them as a quick read/palate cleanse after reading so many big fantasies. I honestly haven’t decided yet. I’ll just see where my mood takes me.
