Hey all, Dani here.
So…I got all of two hours of sleep Sunday night so I ended up using a personal day from work on Monday. But I got a lot of stuff done around the house while Damian was at work, so I guess it was still a productive day overall. And then yesterday I was pulled from my general factory line job and into one of my backup positions, so it was a relatively easy day where I was pretty much isolated from other people. I haven’t gotten as much reading accomplished as I would have liked over the past couple days, but I had a good weekend of reading so I guess it all balances out.
Oh, and over the weekend I made my first meal using my new Instant Pot…a knockoff recipe for Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana, which is one of my favorite soups. Honestly, it was delicious, and it was super quick and easy. The recipe is like 10 minutes of prep and 10 minutes of cooking, and that’s about it. We will definitely be making this recipe a lot more in the future.
Well I made it about halfway through season 3 of “Shadowhunters,” and I’m hoping to finish the rest of the season/series while at home, but my internet is shoddy at best, so I don’t know how long that will take. It also makes it more difficult to keep up with “Survivor: Winners at War” and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” but I’m hoping to still be able to watch those as well.
Damian and I finished watching the second season of “Grimm” and pretty much immediately jumped into the third season, and we’re about halfway through that already. I don’t yet own seasons 4-6 on DVD though, so I might need to start downloading episodes from Netflix on my phone.
Oh, and we’ve both been playing Animal Crossing at least an hour or so each day. Well, Damian sometimes plays quite a bit more than that, but I try to limit myself so I can still do blogging and reading and TV/relaxing.
All right, let’s get into the books I’ve completed in the last week. I’ve been doing a re-read of some of the Shadowhunters books so that I’m reminded what all happened before I read the ones I just never got around to (Mortal Instruments #6, Infernal Devices #3, Dark Artifices #2-3, and all of the story collections). Then I read a couple awesome queer books, a manga adaptation of a classic, an rapid release epic fantasy sequel, and a very unique book that I really enjoyed and can’t wait to talk about…even though that post has to wait until National Library Week (April 19-25). So, I have reviews for most of these books (aside from Shadowhunters) planned already for the next week or two, so I can’t wait to talk about each of these books with you all.
My current reads include a paperback, and e-book, and an audiobook. Love and Other Words is part of my OWLs Magical Readathon TBR, so I’m eager to finish it soon. I’m hoping to review You Deserve Each Other in the next couple days since it came out yesterday, and this final book might technically belong in the completed reads section, but that really depends on how work went today. I’m listening to the audiobook of The Hunger Games. I don’t listen to a lot of audiobooks for a number of reasons, but this particular version is narrated by Tatiana Maslany, who is an amazing actress, so I was willing to give it a chance, and I’ll have to do a review for it soon because it is fantastic.
Finally there’s what I’m hoping to read next. I have my last two OWLs TBR picks, a couple e-galleys, a writing craft book for my next Weekend Writer posts, and the possibility of several books in anticipation for my National Library Week blog celebration. So yeah, I don’t exactly know what I’m going to read, but it will be a four day weekend for me because of the Easter holiday, and since we can’t really go anywhere, I might as well use that opportunity to read a lot of books.
What are you reading right now, and what do you think about it so far? Let me know in the comments, and I will be back soon with more bookish content.
Wow – you’ve read so many books and there’s such a variety too! I adored Mr Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore – I can’t wait to hear what you thought of it! 📚❤️ X x x

Oh, thank you so much. I try to read widely, though I often default to fantasy. My review for Mr Penumbra will be up on April 21 during National Library Week. I already have the post written and scheduled.

Why did you only get 2 hours of sleep?!?!! That sounds horrible 😦 but at least you could take a day off of work! That is helpful 🙂 I hope you have a great week!

I was switching from 2nd shift to 1st shift. My body had gotten used to going to sleep at 1-2 am, and I needed to be up at 4am, so it was not fun
