Hey all, Dani here.
Today is a good day. The books I ordered last Thursday arrived at my doorstep, and book mail is my favorite type of mail to open. Normally I hold off on showcasing my book haul, but I may go ahead and release a sneak peek on my Instagram later. So if you don’t follow me over there, you can now to see my recent book haul, or you can wait until this time next week when my March Wrap Up post goes live.
I think I’m ready to jump into my recap of everything I’ve watched and read and done in the past week, so let’s get started.
Well, on account of Stay at Home orders for Ohio and the like, we canceled our weekend D&D sessions last weekend, but Damian was feeling pretty bummed about not getting to play…so I decided we should make up characters and do a random one on one session with us trading off DM duties based on which of our characters was taking point on each task. To decide what encounters we would face we just opened up our Monster Manual and so long as the creature made sense for the terrain we were in, then that’s what we had to face with talk or with weapons. It actually ended up being a pretty fun time, so we’ll probably do more of that this weekend.
Oh, and I’ve been working with a couple of my fellow ladies from the Calendar Girls Book Club. I’m hoping we’ll be able to share the news and excitement with you all soon. Hopefully it will be a fun bookish thing to help us all escape the realities of the global pandemic plaguing our day-to-day lives. So yeah, we’re finalizing the details now, so hopefully we’ll be able to announce this secret project soon.
Okay, so when it comes to watches over the past week, Damian and I only have like three episodes left in the first season of “Grimm” to watch. It’s a re-watch for me, but he’s getting to see the show for the first time, and it’s safe to say that he’s hooked a little bit. I’ve also finished the final few episodes of “Outlander” season 3, so my watching is now paused so I can read the next book. I’m actually really enjoying this method of experiencing both the books and the show. I’m hoping by the time I finish the fifth book that we’ll be close to the fifth season being out on DVD, but we’ll see what happens due to the state of the world right now. Oh, and I also finished the first season of “Shadowhunters” and I am about halfway through the second season.
So I guess I should start with talking about the books I’ve read in the past week. It was actually a pretty darn productive week of reading, even if I didn’t completely stick to my reading plans from last week. Actually, pretty much all of my finished books from the last week were ones that I read pretty quickly, which is great. I would say to expect reviews from all of them
Then there’s my current reads. My review for the upcoming release for Julie Kagawa will be out on March 31st, and you can expect my review for Emily Skrutskie’s upcoming release on April 7th. And, honestly, I’m still listing the new Sarah J. Maas book on my current reads, though I haven’t read a single page of it in the past couple weeks. I’m thinking I’ll probably finish it over the weekend though, just so I can include it in my March wrap-up.
Finally, there’s what I’m hoping to read next. Up next I have one digital galley from NetGalley, and three recent releases that I am definitely looking forward to. I have been doing so well with all of my fantasy reading and such, but right now I’m feeling like I definitely want to read some contemporary romance.
As promised, I do have bonus posts coming. I have two reviews coming tomorrow, and another two reviews going up on Saturday. I know the world is going crazy right now, and so many of us are feeling anxious and overwhelmed and drained, but we can get through this. We are the online book community, and together we can lift up the authors, publishers, and bookstores that need our support, and together we can help each other through this trying time. I believe in our great capacity to do wondrous things, even if it’s as seemingly small as just retweeting/liking a review or sending book-related GIFs to each other.
That’s it from me for today, but I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
This looks like a great week of reading!! I can’t wait to see your thoughts on all of these💜

Thank you! It was a pretty good week of reading, and my thoughts on these books will be up soon. I’m surprised my brain hasn’t short-circuited from all of the reading and blogging I’ve been doing lately, lol.

I need something to keep me occupied as I continue to go into work each day, so it’s okay. I might take a break later this year…like maybe the week of my honeymoon…you know, unless I have posts written up in advance, lol.

I hope you had a good reading week as well. I’ve been told to have tissues nearby while reading Night of the Dragon, so I’m expecting a wild ride of a finale.
