Manga Review: Delicious in Dungeon Vol 4

Hey all, Dani here.

Welcome back to Manga Monday, where I review another volume of a manga that I’m reading. I’m actually really close to being caught up on reviews for this today’s series, because volumes come out pretty slowly overall. There are only 5 released so far, and I honestly don’t know when the sixth volume will be out. Anyway, it is still a pretty fun series, and I think this may be my favorite volume thus far.

So, let’s jump into the review.

Delicious in Dungeon Vol4

Book Details

Story and Art by: Ryoko Kui

Summary

The time has come! Showdown with the Red Dragon!!!

After finally reaching the fifth floor, it’s time for the adventurers to face their greatest challenge yet. They’re putting their lives on to the line in a fight with a monster with crimson hide that turns away even the toughest steel and a fiery breath that turns even bones to ash. Can they save Laios’s sister? …And maybe just as importantly, can they eat dragon meat?!?

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 stars

In a number of ways, this felt like it could have been the ending of the series. From the beginning we’ve been following Laios and his allies as they tried to track down the dragon and save Laios’s sister. This particular volume brings us to that very important encounter.

There is some encounter planning, some meal planning, and a pretty epic action/fighting sequence. I won’t tell you what happens, but it felt like a decently satisfying conclusion to me.

However, it is clear that this series is not actually over, and it starts to set up whatever the next story arc will be, because our heroes have possibly upset a powerful being connected to the dungeon.

This is still a halfway decent series that I’m planning to keep up with, but for now I’m just going to have to keep an eye and ear out for news about whenever the sixth volume is set to be released.
