Hey all, Dani here.
Whew, it has been a super productive week for me, and I am so excited to be able to talk about all of the books I have finished in the past week, the books I’m currently reading, and the ones I’m hoping to read very soon.
If you didn’t already know, I am participating in two different reading challenges in the month of June: #AGameofBooksathon, which features prompts based on the series, and Jazzy June, which is all about re-reading books. I am also once again celebrating GLBT Book Month, which is hosted by the American Library Association. This means my reading plate is quite full this month, but I am loving the smorgasbord of great books I am devouring already. It is making for a fantastic month, one that should definitely add a couple more books as contenders for my top reads of the first half of 2019.
All right, let’s get started.
So the first book I have on my finished in the last week list is Lover Unbound by J.R. Ward, which was the fifth installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I enjoyed it, but not as much as a couple of the previous books in the series. Then I finished up Nocturna by Maya Motayne, but not until after the month of May had ended. Once June started, I knew that I would need to put some focus on my books for #AGameofBooksathon, so I picked up Urban Shaman by C.E. Murphy, which will fulfill the prompt of The Game of Thrones: first book in a series/trilogy. Of course this book is also a reread, so it also counts on my Jazzy June reading challenge, so bonus points. After that I picked up Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller, which was another #AGameofBooksathon read. The next book for this reading challenge that I picked up was Roar by Cora Carmack. I feel like I’m doing a great job for House Baratheon by finishing off so many books early in the month.
For current reads, I’m slowly working my way through A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin again, so once again this book counts for both #AGameofBooksathon and Jazzy June, and by slowly, I mean that I am about 200 pages into this re-read. I am also working my way through The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, and if I manage to finish it then I think I could use it for one of the Booksathon prompts, but if not then I have other options. My current read that I take to work with me is Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto, and I just started that this morning, so I’ll either finish it tonight or tomorrow because I’ve been doing really good with prioritizing reading the past few days.
My next reads are to continue with my reading challenge prompts, so I’ll likely pick up Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead, Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent, and Kingsbane by Claire Legrand. The first two of those are re-reads, so they also qualify as Jazzy June reads. If I complete these then I will have 7 (possibly 8) prompts out of 11 finished, which is really good overall.
As for watches, we decided to go to the movies and see “Aladdin” again, because we’re both currently pretty obsessed with it. We’ve actually been playing the soundtrack on repeat when we need some background noise while doing chores and/or other activities. Then, on Sunday while Damian was hanging out with his dad, I watched “When in Rome,” “The House Bunny,” and “Me Before You.” We’ve also been watching season 3 of “The Big Bang Theory.”
So how has your week been going? Let me know what you’re reading in the comments below, and I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
