Weekly Wrap-Up (15)

Hey all, Dani here.

It was a busy week and a productive one, even if I didn’t do as much reading as I was hoping. But I’m glad that my work week is already almost over, because I’m a bit tired. Anyway, let’s go ahead and wrap up the last week.

In non-bookish…or not-quite-bookish news, Damian and I went hiking over the weekend in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio, and I took so many gorgeous photos. Honestly being in the lush forest just put me in a major fantasy mood, and kind of made me want to get back to writing fantasy stories. That would be nice. I really do need to sit down and work on my novels.

Okay, so in the last week I managed to finish Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Then, while out on vacation over the weekend, I didn’t get as much reading done as I would have hoped, but I did manage to read Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes. On our way home we ended up stopping at Half-Price Books and I picked up She Just Wants to Forget by R.H. Sin, which is a poetry book, so it didn’t take me long to finish. I also read How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Vol 4 by Yukiya Murasaki and Naoto Fukuda.

I actually have a few current reads. The book I’m carrying in my work bag is Nocturna by Maya Motayne. The book I have for reading at home (currently sitting on my nightstand) is The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. And then I am also working on an e-book, Lover Unbound by J.R. Ward. The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of Damian’s favorites, and I’m enjoying them but I basically binged the first four and then needed to take a break. But I’ve been in the mood for them, so I figured I would try to read the next four or so at least.

Since I didn’t really get the reading done that I was hoping to over the weekend, I still have all of those books on my TBR. The problem is that since many of them are pretty large, it’s difficult for me to carry them to work for break time reading. So, I still very much want to read them soon, but they may be relegated to after work/evening/weekend reading only.

Oh, and then there’s what we watched over the past week. Of course we went to the theater and saw the new live action “Aladdin,” but we also watched “How to Train Your Dragon,” “How to Train Your Dragon 2,” “How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden Worlds,” and finished up season two of “The Big Bang Theory.” Overall I don’t think that’s too bad.
