Weekly Wrap-Up (13)

Hey all, Dani here.

Boy oh boy, was it a good week for reading. Not only did I read quite a few books, but I also added to my list of strong contenders for my Top Ten Reads of 2019 Jan-June list. Honestly, I think I’m at like 12 books on the list, which means for once that I’m going to have to bump some books down to simply honorable mentions. I’ve been reading some really great books so far this year, and I am so darn happy about that.

In the past week I finished The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala, My Hero Academia Vigilantes Vol 4 by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, Ran and the Gray World by Aki Irie, Fruits Basket Collectors Edition Vol 1 by Natsuki Takaya, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol 1 by Fuse and Taiki Kawakami, The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang, and We Hunt the Flame by Haifsah Faizal. The manga reads are all because of my participation in the sixth round of Manga Madness Readathon, which was a lot of fun. I read three of the four manga on my TBR, and then read a fourth manga that wasn’t on the TBR. It was a good time and I look forward to Round 7.

My current reads are Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, and The Missing of Clairedelune by Christelle Dabos. Both are new releases, and I’m super excited to finish them. Also, wow, seriously I am reading so many lengthy books this month. I’m very tempted to start tracking my page count just so I can see how many pages I read in the month of May.

When it comes to what I’m reading next, The Living God by Kaytalin Platt is a book I was approved  for on NetGalley, so I’m really hoping to read it this weekend. But I’m also thinking that after all these wonderful and complex fantasy and sci-fi reads, I may need a little palette cleanser when it comes to genre, so a contemporary romance might be what I pick up instead, so I’ve been wanting to read another book by Christina Lauren and I picked up My Favorite Half-Night Stand.

As for watches the past week, we finished Game of Thrones season 5, watched Detective Pikachu, watched the entirety of Eureka season 1, and have watched half of Game of Thrones season 6. So not a whole lot, but at the same time, yes, it is a lot. That is a lot of hours of viewing.

Tomorrow I’m back with another review post, and then Friday I will have my Most Anticipated Summer Releases post. My recommendations and discussion posts will be starting up next week, which is good because it will give me a little bit of prep time.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week. Let me know what great books you’re reading, because I would love to know. I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
