Manga Review: The Girl from the Other Side, Vol 6

Hey all, Dani here.

Woohoo, it’s Manga Monday time again. This is probably one of the only things I regularly look forward to on Mondays. Otherwise today is just the first day of the work week, which is just not fun or exciting.

How’s your day going?

Anyway, let’s just dive into the review.

Summary

An ethereal fantasy from the editorial team behind the New York Times bestselling series The Ancient Magus’ Bride.

In a land far away, there were two kingdoms: the Outside, where twisted beasts roamed that could curse with a touch, and the Inside, where humans lived in safety and peace. The girl and the beast should never have met, but when they do, a quiet fairytale begins.

This is a story of two people—one human, one inhuman—who linger in the hazy twilight that separates night from day.

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 stars

This is still such a cute series, though it does have a decent amount of darkness to it. Shiva and Teacher are such interesting characters, and I get swept away into the story every time I pick up a new volume.

I feel like there’s still so much to learn about both the Inside and the Outside. Most of what we’ve seen has been focused on our two main characters, which has been nice, but has made the scope of the story very small. There is so much that could be expanded upon, and I’m sure that will come in time, so I’m enjoying what bits of story I’m getting.

Oh, and the cover of this volume threw me off for a little bit. All of the covers have been black, white, and gray, but this one has yellows and tans. I’m wondering if that’s an indicator to something over-arching happening in the story. Then again, maybe I need to re-read all the earlier volumes, because I did devour them rather quickly months ago.

I adore this series, and I’m really looking forward to the release of Volume 7.
