Hey all, Dani here.
It is the middle of the week again. Holy smokes. There’s a lot to talk about so let’s get started with my regular weekly wrap up post, where I talk about what I’ve read, watched, and accomplished in the last week.
So after my post last week, I was having a bit of a slow start with The Missing: Sent by Margaret Peterson Haddix, so I ended up grabbing Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee, and I devoured it in just one day. I am absolutely loving the Rick Riordan Presents novels, and I can’t wait to read more. But that was Wednesday, and then on Thursday at work I only managed like 40 pages of reading. That was a bit sad, but then I made it worse by being pretty darn busy on both Friday and Saturday and not really reading. I know days like that happen, but it’s frustrating when I feel like I’m not making reading progress.
But, the point is that I ended up having a pretty okay reading week. After finally managing to finish Margaret Peterson Haddix’s book, I picked up Fablehaven by Brandon Mull, and I can say that I definitely plan to continue the series. I think three books in a week isn’t too bad.
My next reading focus is Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend, because I loved the first book and I’ve heard that this second one is even better, so I am definitely looking forward to devouring this one.
And I don’t know how much time I’m really going to have for reading for the next week, but if I manage to find the time to keep on reading, I want to keep going with my Middle Grade March reads.
Umm…clearly I am trying to catch up on some Middle Grade mythology/folklore adventures. Sal & Gabi sounds utterly hilarious so I am definitely looking forward to that. And Mayan mythology intrigues me, so I’ve had the Cervantes book on my radar for a while. Finally, I can’t believe that I haven’t read the latest Apollo novel, because I have very much loved reading his stories.
As for everything else that has gone on in the past week, Damian and I watched some more Doctor Who–we’ve started Peter Capaldi’s years–and we finished watching season 3 of Overlord, which was really interesting. Oh, and we watched Mulan. The weekend was also filled with our bi-weekly Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder sessions. Plus we managed to get some more packing and cleaning accomplished. I can’t believe that we start on the moving process this weekend. That’s crazy to think about.
Three books! Good job!
