Hey all, Dani here.
Welcome to the first of my new weekly wrap-up series of posts.
Let’s start with reading. So, it turned out that I didn’t get much reading time last Wednesday, so I actually didn’t finish Onyx & Ivory then, but it’s finished now. Then I picked up The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, which was a little over 200 pages long, so not that long of a read. Oh, and then it was time for the Manga Madness Readathon to start. I read Akame Ga Kill Vol 1, My Hero Academia Vol 17, How to Treat Magical Beasts: Mine and Master’s Medical Journal Vol 2, Noragami: Stray God Vol 2, Black Clover Vol 9, and Akame Ga Kill Vol 2.
My current read is The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell. For this week anyway, I’m reading novels at work and manga at home, so I don’t know how far I’ll get with this one because it is a longer novel. As for my manga reads, I plan on reading a few more volumes of Black Clover and then hopefully the rest of Akame Ga Kill.
Moving on to watching. Damian and I have watched a few more episodes of “Black Clover,” and we’re on I believe episode 21 of the anime now. I already know what is happening and will happen because of reading the manga, but Damian is enjoying it for the first time, so it’s really cool for me to see his reactions when some scenes or interactions happen.
We also decided to start watching “Wynonna Earp,” and we’re getting close to finishing the first season already. It’s also accurate to say that we’re talking about putting together cosplays as Wynnona and Doc Holliday, so we are definitely enjoying the show. The sarcasm and sass from certain characters is highly amusing, and I know I’m looking forward to seeing more of the lore and mythos of this particular series.
On the gaming front, we had our regular family D&D session on Sunday. His dad, step-mom, and step-brother all come over to our apartment and we get to spend a few hours together, which is kind of nice. Oh, and Damian is bouncing back and forth between playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on his Nintendo Switch and Kingdom Hearts III on his PS4. So when he games, I blog, or read, or find something to watch on YouTube or Netflix. Though really, I should probably play a little more Skyrim.
Oh, and finally, I should mention the Web site/app that Damian and I are totally hooked on right now. It is called Duolingo, and it is free (or you can pay to avoid advertisements). Duolingo is a language learning aid. They have dozens of languages, and the lessons are very game like, which makes it fun. You can set up your lessons for as short as 5 minutes a day, and you earn more XP points by doing more lessons or by continuing your lessons each and every day. Damian is focusing on German and Japanese, and I am focusing on Japanese and Irish…though I’ve done a few lessons in Italian, and I’ve explored Klingon and High Valyrian. Honestly, I can say that I definitely feel like we are learning words and phrases, and it is great. I can absolutely recommend Duolingo, and if you join and want to follow our progress, Damian is GothKidProductions and I am librarymouse81.
Well, I do believe that is all from me for today. I hope you are all having a wonderful day. Feel free to share what you’re reading and/or watching in the comments, and I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
