What I’m Reading (50)

Hey all, Dani here.

Well here we are at another weekly recap post, and as this post goes live, I only have four hours left on my #JanJamJarReadathon. But before I talk about that, I want to talk about another thing I did that I need to talk about with these recap. Damian and I have purchased our badges to attend Gen Con again this year, so that is pretty awesome. I am going to try and attend some writing panels and workshops this year, which is cool. Oh, and we also made an offer on a house–which is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Now we just have to wait and see if the offer is accepted or if we get a counteroffer.

Back to the bookish side of things. So honestly, here’s where things are going to get a bit interesting. I tend to write this update post on Tuesday night before I go to bed, because I wake up at 4:00 am and then work from 5:30am until 4:00 pm. So there’s no way to give an absolute up-to-date current read status.

However, with this week, my readathon started at 8:00pm on Tuesday night and will go until 8:00pm tonight. So I had to prep up half of the post, and then take a break from the readathon just before my posts are set to be published, so I could update everything to be accurate.

It’s going to make for an interesting time. For that reason I’m going to have my recently finished reads section divided in two. The first half will be the books I finished before the readathon, and the other half will be what I’ve read during the readathon so far.

So let’s just jump into it.

Since last week I have managed to finish Traitor’s Blade by Sebastien de Castell, and A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. I also managed to squeeze another manga volume into my reading schedule: Delicious in Dungeon Volume 2.

This means that I am doing really well with my JanJamJar books, as well as all the other random books that sneaked onto my TBR. I say sneak like I didn’t deliberately choose to read them, but hey, I’m the one telling this story, right? lol. I’m going to have a pretty impressive wrap-up in a couple more days.

Okay, so let’s talk about this 24 Hour Readathon I decided to host. I started reading at 8:00pm on January 29th, and three hours after that I finished my first book, and decided to relax with a bath while starting book two. Unfortunately I think I may have relaxed myself a little too much, because by midnight I was reading pages over and over again and consistently dozing off. So I went to bed…and woke up around 8:00 am. I finished my second book and then started and finished my third book. The third book was finished at 2:53pm, right before I paused the readathon to update this post.

This leads me to my current reads. The next book I’m picking up for the JanJamJarReadathon is A Winter’s Promise by Christelle Dabos. I’m picking it over my other readathon TBR pick because I was recently approved for the sequel via the publisher and NetGalley, so reading this first book would be of great benefit. But if I manage to finish it before the readathon ends, then I’ll be jumping into Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, which has been on my TBR for well over a year now.

After I finish up these books I’ll really be focusing on fantasy reads for February, but when I finish both of these bigger books, I think my copy of King of Scars should have arrived, so that will likely be one of my first February reads. We’ll see.

King of Scars

So I guess that’s about all for my wrap up this week. I need to get back to reading for the JanJamJarReadathon, but I’d love to hear what you’ve been reading. Let me know in the comments. I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
