Hey all, Dani here.
It has been quite the productive week for me, or at least it appears that way if you look at my books read count. But honestly, that is rather deceptive. I’ve been reading a lot of short reads. I’m tackling a couple of rather large tomes at the moment, and it’s making me want to read a whole bunch of manga and such to balance everything out. So yeah, that’s pretty much what’s happening.
Since last week’s post, I have read Delicious in Dungeon Vol 1 by Ryoko Kui, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Vol 1 by Yukiya Murasaki, The Dungeon of Black Company Vol 1 by Youhei Yasumura, and How to Treat Magical Beasts: Mine and Master’s Medical Journal Vol 1 by Kaziya. I also finally got around to reading The Librarians and the Pot of Gold by Greg Cox, so expect a review of that soon.
As you can see my current reads are pretty big tomes. Both Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind and The Black Prism by Brent Weeks are from my JanJamJar TBR or from my 2019 goal of reading big books. The first Sword of Truth book is over 800 pages, and the first Lightbringer book is nearly 700 pages, so it’s going to take me a little while to get through both of them. The other book I have on my current reads is a book about writing, and since I’d really like to get back to creative writing, reading more of these writing help books will hopefully help me become a better wordsmith, or at the very least, inspire me and get the creative juices flowing again.
On my want to read list at the moment is a writing book that has been recommended by Susan Dennard, and again, I’m hoping it will help spark my own writing. Then, on the fiction side of things, I was recently approved by the publisher and NetGalley for the upcoming Brigid Kemmerer release, and since it is coming out in just a couple weeks, I need to get it read so I can have my review up by release day.
Well, that’s all from me for today. I hope you are having a lovely week, and that you’re reading some great books. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read something cool already this year. I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
