Hey all, Dani here.
Happy Halloween!
When this post goes live, I will be getting ready for trick or treat. My fiance and I like to get dressed up in costume and pass out candy. This is one of our favorite times of the year, so I’m glad that the end of October is finally here. The next couple holidays are quite a bit more chaotic for us. There are so many family gatherings to try and juggle, and they all require some sort of food dish to go with the dinner/pot luck, so it gets a bit exhausting.
But anyway, we are here to talk about books. Specifically I’m here to recap my reading over the past week: the books I’ve finished, the books I’m currently reading, and the books I’m hoping to start very soon.
Obviously the first book I finished was The Cardboard Kingdom by Chad Sell. I actually finished reading it the same day as I started it…last Wednesday. After that I flew through Estranged by Ethan M. Aldridge. The next book I devoured was Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa. After that I turned my attention to Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kassel. I will have reviews up soon for both Shadow of the Fox and Black Birdof the Gallows. Then I decided to focus on my non-fiction read, because I’m hoping it has some nice tips and tricks in it so that my fiance and I can really start working towards lives outside the factory we work in right now.
Next up is my current reads. Right now I am reading new release The Librarians and the Pot of Gold by Greg Cox. I loved The Librarian movies, and I adored The Librarians television show. I’m hoping that even with the show being cancelled, that this book series can continue on for a little while. Greg Cox does an absolutely wonderful job writing all the characters so well. My other current read is Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco. I can’t promise that I’ll be able to finish this soon, but maybe I’ll surprise myself and accomplish a bunch of reading and writing in November.
As for what I plan to start reading next…well, that will probably be some volumes of manga. Not only is the next round of the Manga Madness Readathon starting soon (Nov 5-12), but I’m also going to be busy with NaNoWriMo. Since I can usually read a volume of manga in about 30 minutes, they will be perfect for when I need a little break from writing. So I will definitely be continuing my reading of both Fairy Tail and Black Clover, but I may also jump back into One-Punch Man and/or Fullmetal Alchemist. We’ll see what happens.
Oh, and I can also say that I’ve already started making loose reading plans and goals for 2019. I can’t believe that we are only two months away from a new year. I’m going to be tackling some pretty hefty reading next year, so that should be fun.
So, I guess that is all for today. Tomorrow I’ll have my October Wrap-Up and November TBR, and after that, hopefully some more reviews and book tags. I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
