Hey all, Dani here.
Wow, it is Wednesday again already. Where is the time going? Seriously, the next time I do this post, it will be July. That is still pretty crazy to think about. Also, I can’t believe that I have been doing this post series for 20 weeks now. That is pretty good consistency. So anyway, let’s just go ahead and jump into my discussion of the books I have finished recently, the books I am currently reading, and the books I am hoping to start soon.
I actually had a pretty good week for finishing up books. I’m not going to actually have a full review up for Dragons Love Tacos, but I will say here and now that it was an absolutely adorable book, and I will be reading the sequel. The artwork was really fun, and the story itself was rather amusing. I already have a review up for The Unbinding of Mary Reade up on the blog, and I will have reviews up soon for both Dread Nation and The Supervillain and Me. All in all, I’m pleased that I was able to start finishing up some books, because I was starting to feel a bit lazy for not having actual progress to report.
As for my current reads, I’m not making as much progress as I would like with these, but I am enjoying both. With A Closed and Common Orbit I am missing the majority of the cast from the first book, as this one is more of a companion sequel, and follows Lovelace the AI as she adjusts to being in a body instead of being an onboard ship AI. So it is slow going, but I am enjoying it. For my other read, I’m actually craving a bit more contemporary, and I also am trying to play catch-up on some of my NetGalley reads and reviews, so I’ve picked up Bookish Boyfriends, which follows a 15 year old girl who loves to read and thinks that romance in books (and boys in books) are better than reality. I’m only about 10 chapters in, and it is a cute read, but I’m waiting for stuff to really start happening.
Then comes what I am hoping to start reading soon. Obviously this is the end of the month, and I should be trying to finish up as many of my June TBR reads as I can. And considering I have actually only picked up one of the books I added to my TBR (that would be A Closed and Common Orbit), I have plenty to choose from. I think I will probably choose one of these two, but we’ll see how I’m feeling once I finish my current reads.
And I think that about does it for today. I hope you all are managing to fit some reading time into your lives, and I would love to know what you’re currently reading. Have a wonderful day and I’ll be back soon with another bookish post.
LOVED And I Darken. But I’m super nervous about its trajectory for the last book––it feels like there’s some negative foreshadowing. You may be signing up for heartbreak.

I am okay with book heartbreak. Books with an emotional punch tend to stay with you longer.

Ooh, I definitely look forward to your review of The Upside of Unrequited. It’s a book I’ve considered picking up, but just haven’t been motivated enough to do so. I’m hoping your review will spark my interest enough that I grab it!

Well, I’m hoping I enjoy it myself. I thought Simon vs was a good book, but not a great one (though I loved the movie), so I’m hoping that reading more Becky Albertalli will be a good decision.

I haven’t read anything by her. 😳 But I’d like to read Simon so I can watch the movie!

From what I’ve heard, a couple of characters from Simon vs make a cameo in Upside of Unrequited. I believe all of her books take place in the same area.
