I have so many reviews coming this month, because I have been reading so many great books lately. Of course there are also so very many old reads that I still want to review. This is why I keep doing these Manga Monday posts. I very much enjoy reading manga, and I find the stories to be so interesting. But it seems like not very many others in the online bookish community–or at least not that many that I have seen–talk about reading graphic novels and manga. So if you know any great fantasy/sci-fi book blogs or vlogs that also talk about comics, graphic novels, and manga, please let me know in the comments. I’d love to find some more reads to add to my TBR.
Summary
Izuku Midoriya is the inheritor of the superpower of the world’s greatest hero, but the mantle of greatness won’t come easy, and even superheroes have to go to school!
What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called “Quirks”? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? The Hero Academy of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless?
In the aftermath of the sports festival, the class 1-A students begin their internships. Midoriya goes to study under Gran Torino, who was once All Might’s mentor. Gran Torino appears to be a washed-up nutjob, but the old hero still has more moves than a football team, and Midoriya has a lot to learn! Elsewhere, the League of Villains enacts another sinister plot and unleashes a terrifying new enemy!
My Thoughts

Watching the UA students go to their internships was rather intriguing. So many of the class end up going to places where they actually do learn more in areas where they were lacking. Midoriya studies with Gran Torino, who had previously worked with All Might, so he was in the perfect position to help our young hero learn how to use the immense power he was given.
Again, the art and the action, as well as the character development, is completely fantastic. There is a reason why my fiance and I have all of the released volumes of manga and have seen every episode of the anime. We even have a My Hero Academia poster hanging up in our living room.
There are so many different characters and factions, and they each have their own motivations. Not only do we follow these UA students, but we also follow the League of Villains, and we are introduced to Hero Killer Stain, who is also a fascinating character. The whole hero vs vigilante issue that comes up with this internship story arc makes me excited to check out the spin-off manga, which actually does follow a group of vigilantes.
This is honestly one of my favorite series, and I would definitely recommend it.
