Hey all, Dani here.
I am getting so close to finishing this purge of my Goodreads to-read list. Though I can also say that I’ve added a handful of titles in the past couple weeks. But they are books that I should be reading fairly soon, so they aren’t affecting my overflowing TBR just yet.
Starting where I left off yesterday, the first book I’m keeping is The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater. I just need to binge-read the rest of this series and be done with it. I already know I like the characters and the atmospheric feel of the story.
SuperNova: Heroes of Arcania by Liz Long. I added this one when browsing through the Goodreads Giveaways and it sounded interesting, but not to the point of me reading it anytime in the last year or so. Farewell.
Vicious by V.E. Schwab. It’s a Victoria Schwab book. I must read it.
Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. This is one that I’m working on slowly, but I didn’t want it to sit on my currently reading shelf forever. I mean this is like an 800 page biography. It’s good, especially considering how fascinating Alexander Hamilton’s life was.
Speaking of Hamilton, Hamilton Writings is a lovely collection of 1000 thin pages with numerous letters, pamphlets, and writings from Alexander Hamilton. Another book that will take me a long time to read.
Replica by Lauren Oliver. I have had this book for a year and a half and I have only read one chapter. I think for now I can say that I’m not in the mood to read it.
Julia Vanishes by Catherine Egan. This one still sounds interesting and I do own a copy, but I’m probably not picking it up until I’m in the mood…which might not be for a while, so I can take it off this list.
Dark Magic by Adam J Wright. I own this book. I enjoyed the first one. And he is a self-published author. This is one I need to squeeze into my reading schedule.
Poisoned Blade by Kate Elliott. I have not yet read the first book so this one can go.
Heartless by Marissa Meyer. I still need to read every other book by Meyer that is out, and of all those books this one is probably the lowest on the scale of what I want to read. For now I think I can remove this one.
Empire of Dust by Eleanor Herman. Yeah, still need to read the first book. Bye.
A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi. Need to read the companion first. Goodbye for now.
Mirror in the Sky by Aditi Khorana. This sounded interesting so I picked up a copy cheap from BookOutlet, but until I’m in the mood to read it, I can take it off this list.
Hunter, Hunted by Ashley Meira. Perhaps when I catch up on some other books I might add this one again. I do follow the author on at least one of my social media accounts, so I likely won’t forget about her.
Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer. I have heard amazing things about this one, and the sequel will be coming fairly soon, so I need to read this.
Arabella of Mars by David D. Levine. Yep, this one still sounds so good. I need to read it.
Hollow Earth, Bone Quill, and The Book of Beasts by Carole E Barrowman and John Barrowman. I still want to read these because John Barrowman co-wrote them with his sister and I love John Barrowman as a person. So I’ll keep the first of the trilogy and take the other two off for now.
2000 to 10000: How to Write Faster, Write Better, and Write More of What You Love by Rachel Aaron. This one might be a handy writer resource to check out at some point, but considering I wrote 50K in only two weeks last month, I’d say I’m okay on the writing front for now.
Evil Spark, New Spark, Guilty Spark, and Swift by Al K Line. I really enjoyed the first of the Dark Magic Enforcer books so I’m going to keep the second one and take the other two off, and then the last book listed here is the first in a different series that I still want to try.
The Witching Elm by C.N. Crawford. This was one of several books I bought because of the cover artist primarily, followed by an interest in the book summary. So I still want to try this one.
Conjuror by Carole E Barrowman and John Barrowman. This is the first book in the spin-off to the trilogy I just talked about a little bit ago, so for now this one can go. It follows the same characters but older, so I can’t read it until I finish that trilogy.
Inherited by Freedom Matthews. I kinda don’t remember adding this to the list. I’m sure I did it because of a Goodreads Giveaway or because it sounded interesting, but for now I shall say goodbye.
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald. I saw this one while browsing the book section at one of my local grocery stores and it looked interesting. I mean it revolves around a small town and books. Yep, I still want to give it a try.
Into the Bright Unknown by Rae Carson. I need to finish this trilogy already.
Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton. I think I bought this one from Book Outlet, but it was pitched as being something that fans of Station Eleven might like, so I still want to read it.
Whew, another 16 books removed from my list. I think next week is the last week of decent purging. After that the books are all relatively recent adds so I’m more likely to keep them.
