NetGalley Book Tag

So I very recently saw this posted by Kathy over at Books & Munches, and she ended her post by cleverly tagging anyone who reads the post, so thanks for the tag. I joined NetGalley back in 2013, during a time when I went a few months with no job and therefore no income. For a bookworm who enjoys buying and collecting books it was a problematic time. So I started requesting e-galleys and reviewing them so I could get myself new reading material on a regular basis.

Now I’m in a position to buy a good number of the books I want to read, but I have found that I like being able to read and review the books early and hopefully get other readers interested in the books. I’m hoping to keep building my online presence and maybe get into requesting print ARCs in the near future. We’ll just see what happens.

Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

Oooh…so many authors. Rachel E. Kelly, Jim C. Hines, Adam Silvera, Kevin Hearne, Richelle Mead, Maria V. Snyder, Leigh Bardugo, C.E. Murphy, Brandon Sanderson, and Rick Riordan. I’m sure there’s many others who could be included, but I think that’s enough for now.

Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

Cover design, author name, sometimes even the publisher.

Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

I try to review every book I read, at least on Goodreads. Not all books make it to my blog, but that is mostly because sometimes I have months where I’ll read 20-30 books and I just don’t have the time to write up full reviews for them all. Now, sometimes I’ll request a bunch of books from NetGalley because I am expecting many of them to be rejections. On the occasions where I am accepted for far more than I thought, I sometimes can’t make it to them all in a timely manner. I do keep a list of all of my NetGalley books, and try to get around to them all at some point or another though.

Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

So I don’t have much for my NetGalley badge collection. I do have some NaNoWriMo badges, and some Audible badges. I really should try and get all of those badges displayed on my blog somewhere.

But, if I could create badges or at least suggest them, it would be nice to have genre badges, where you can collect them for reading/reviewing a certain number of books in each particular genre. That could be cool.

Wish for It: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

I am sincerely hoping that I’ll be able to get an early copy of The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco. I absolutely loved the first book, The Bone Witch, and I really really want to know what happens next.

2017 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

Okay, I didn’t receive this ARC from NetGalley, but the last ARC I finished was Warcross by Marie Lu. Now I am currently reading A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne, and that is an e-galley I received from NetGalley. It will be out in October and though I’m only a couple chapters in, I am already starting to rave about this book because I am loving it. I was craving a good epic fantasy and I think this book will definitely qualify.
