WIP Wednesday – April 26

Hey all, Sam and David here.

Hello and welcome back to another weekly check-in. If you’re new here, we are a geeky couple who enjoy reading, writing, watching anime, TV shows, and movies, playing tabletop games and video games…and we love sharing our passions with others. Every Wednesday, we run this WIP Wednesday blog series where we talk about what we’ve been reading, watching, and doing over the past week.

It’s a useful way to keep track of what we’re doing, because otherwise the days and weeks can start to blur together. All right, let’s not waste any more time. Here we go.

Sam

It was a pretty okay week for me overall, but I’m still hoping that I can fully break out of my reading slump and get back to my old reading habit. Overall though, it could have been a worse week.

Reading: My Repair Skill Became a Versatile Cheat So I Think I’ll Open a Weapon Shop Volume 1 by Ginga Hoshikawa and Yukimi Enoki, This Doesn’t Mean Anything by Sarah Whalen, and The Valkyrie’s Daughter by Tiana Warner.

What’s fun about this is these are all books that I read yesterday and today…and technically I still have a little more before I finish Warner’s book. I just figured since I’m like 70% finished at the time of writing this up, that it would be fine to count it. I’m going to finish it up tonight anyway. Next week I promise that my reading update will be quite a bit larger, because I’ll be participating in a 24 Hour Readathon this weekend.

Oh, I guess this can also be thrown into this, but…I finally was able to sign up for the FairyLoot Adult + YA book only monthly subscription, which meant ending the YA book only subscription that I’d been on for the past year. I’m excited to start getting two awesome fantasy special editions each month. It’s going to be pretty cool, because usually about 80% of the FairyLoot monthly picks are books that are already on my to-buy list.

Watching: “Alias” Season 1 and Season 2 (in progress), “Bones” Season 5 (in progress), “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel” Season 5 (in progress), “The Flash” Season 3 (in progress), “Arrow” Season 1, Season 2, and Season 3 (in progress), “Chuck” Season 2, “The Party” web series (in progress)

Yep, still going strong on some of these show binge re-watches. I just put a show on and pick up my laptop and work on things while the show plays in the background. Sometimes I barely pay attention, and sometimes I’ll take a break from whatever I’m working on to just watch the show for a while. I don’t know; it makes me feel good to settle into something familiar.

Writing: After completing my goal for Camp NaNoWriMo, I basically took a break from writing. I know I need to get back to it, so hopefully I’ll have a better update next week. I still need to keep writing on Tale of Blood and Mourning and keep working on revisions for Project Death: Resurrection, but I’ve been feeling an urge to try to work on my geeky romance book, tentatively titled Roll for Romance. I need to come up with a new title for the TTRPG romance novel though, because there is a podcast as well as a couple-based TTRPG called Roll for Romance. And I will totally take suggestions…so if you have a cute fun punny and clever TTRPG related romance title, let me know. If you give me something and I use it, then I will at the very least give you credit in the book…but I might consider sending you a copy of the book once it’s published.

Other: I had a coffee date with a friend today, which was pretty nice. And I’ve applied to a bunch more jobs, some work from home and some local. I’m hoping to start hearing back from some of them. I can’t keep not working; it’s fueling my depression which is just making me feel worse about being home and not really doing much of anything.

David

Unfortunately, David had to get on the road to help a friend out with a family issue a state away, and he didn’t have the time to get his section prepped before he left.

He has been playing some video games, and just started his own blog series here, where he reviews a game that he’s played for at least ten hours, so you can check out his first post here.

And he also got some new STL files and some new PLA filament in, so we’ve been working on printing out some more new stock for our convention inventory.

I’m sure he’ll do a big ole’ update on the anime he’s been watching and everything else next week…so stay tuned.

Well, that is all from us for today. Thank you so much for stopping by. Be sure to let us know what you’ve been up to lately down in the comments, because we’d love to hear all about it…and we’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
