Books I’d Like to Read in February 2026

Hey all, Sam here.

Overall, I’m doing…okay with my January TBR. I have a few more days off before the end of the month, so I’m hoping to get some decent reading time in for those as well, which should get me fairly close to completing my list of hopeful reads for the month. We’ll see how well I do at the beginning of February when I release my January Wrap-Up.

But, we have about a week left in the month of January, so I figured it was worth looking ahead to February and trying to put together a little bit of a TBR for the month again. About half of the books on my list are NetGalley reads–you can tell which ones those are because I have included their release dates after each one. The other half are books that I want to read or that I need to read because they have upcoming sequels.

So let’s go ahead and jump on in to the books I’m hoping to read in February.

Until the Clock Strikes Midnight by Alechia Dow (Feb 3), Black as Diamond by U.M. Agoawike (March 3), The Library of Amorlin by Kalyn Josephson (March 3), The Regency Switch by Helen Gaskell (March 3)

Honestly my NetGalley reads feel a little all over the place in terms of vibes, but that is totally okay. First we have a cozy romantic fantasy that basically pits a Guardian (what I would call a Fairy Godmother in this scenario) against a Misfortune (basically a bad-luck trickster) over the fate of a bookshop worker, and it sounds like our Guardian and Misfortune might end up catching feelings for each other.

Next is the newest book coming from Ezeekat Press, and I’ve enjoyed every book that Jaysen has picked for his Bindery Books Imprint so far, so obviously I want to check this one out. It follows a cursed warrior and a reckless healer who discover information while seeking answers from the past that has a chance to either save the world or condemn it.

After that we have a book about a magic library, and of course I’m interested in that. It follows a former con artist who has to infiltrate this library, which is the heart of all magic and the protector of magical creatures throughout the realm. While inside our con artist has to destabilize the library to clear a way to remove the librarian. Naturally there is also an issue where our con artist might be attracted to the librarian.

Then there’s a story about a modern woman who finds herself having swapped bodies with her Regency-era ancestor. So our modern woman has to say goodbye to all the tech wonders and hello to what ladies do and do not do and the gossip of the Ton, while the ancestor now finds herself blossoming with the aid of modern medicine and the attentions of her Adult Learning teacher. I’m definitely intrigued.

Crown of War and Shadow by J.R. Ward (Feb 17), Books & Bewitchment by Isla Jewell, The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst, This Will be Fun by E.B. Asher

The last of my NetGalley reads is the upcoming J.R. Ward release, which is a star-crossed, slow-burn, high-stakes romantic fantasy featuring an outcast with mystical abilities who makes a deal with a mercenary out for himself. The deal: one night in his bed that she won’t forget in exchange for her safe passage. What could go wrong there? What is also silly intriguing to me is that the mercenary’s name is Merc.

Next is a book I wasn’t approved for on NetGalley but it’s out at the beginning of the month, so I don’t have to wait long to get it. Isla Jewell is a new pen name for Delilah Dawson, and the book is a cozy, witchy romcom following a woman who is left a run-down business by her grandmother, but the helpful handyman also happens to be the grandson of her grandmother’s sworn enemy in witchcraft. I don’t know, it just sounds fun, and I really enjoy Delilah Dawson’s writing, so I’m excited to see what I think about this one.

After that is the second cozy fantasy book by Sarah Beth Durst, and I still haven’t read it, but the third book comes out this year, so I want to be caught up on the series. Then there’s again another fantasy adventure, this one by E.B. Asher, and the sequel is out this year, so I want to be caught up.

The Princess Knight by Cait Jacobs, Dawn of the Firebird by Sarah Mughal Rana, Don’t Want You Like a Best Friend by Emma R. Alban, Alcott Hall by Emily Rath

For three of the four books in this section, it’s because they seem fun and romance-y and February is a month where I like to read romances (due to Valentine’s Day and such), so that’s what I’m hoping to enjoy. There’s a a medieval “Legally Blonde” by Cait Jacobs, a Sapphic Regency romance by Emma R Alban, and a Why Choose Regency romance by Emily Rath.

The final book in this grouping is a new fantasy release following the daughter of an overthrown emperor, who joins the enemy’s army school to avenge her clan and reclaim the throne. There’s magic and monks and battles…and learning history that contradicts her father’s teachings.

That’s a lot of hopefully great books for me to read in February. What are you hoping to read next month? Let me know in the comments.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
