Some of My 2026 Anticipated Releases

Hey all, Sam here.

My monthly TBRs will usually include NetGalley ARCs for that month, but there are many books that I’m excited about reading that I am not approved for via NetGalley. Now some of these books I may get approved for closer to their release dates, especially since some of them aren’t even up on NetGalley. Nevertheless, I am still counting down until their releases, so I figured that I would talk about them a bit today.

These books spread from January until October, but I’m sure I’ll be adding to this list as I learn of more releases and release days. But anyway, I have quite a few books that I’m really excited to read, so let’s go ahead and chat about them a bit.

Nine Goblins: A Tale of Low Fantasy and High Mischief by T. Kingfisher (Jan 20, 2026)

Books & Bewitchment by Isla Jewell (Feb 3, 2026)

Daughter of Crows by Mark Lawrence (March 24, 2026)

Rites of the Starling by Devney Perry (April 7, 2026)

So T. Kingfisher is basically one of my auto-buy authors. Well, so long as it isn’t her more horror filled stories. I haven’t quite ventured into those yet. Also on my list of authors whose fantasy books I tend to really enjoy is Delilah S Dawson, and she is releasing this witchy rom-com under the pen name Isla Jewell, so of course I want to check it out.

Next on the list is Mark Lawrence. Now I’ve only read a couple of his books, and I’ve liked them, and I even own a whole magical book/library trilogy from him that I need to read, but honestly I’m really looking forward to this new book, because….well, I might have a slight obsession with crows and mythological/magical beings associated with crows. Then there’s the upcoming book from Devney Perry, which is the sequel to Shield of Sparrows. I read that book very quickly back in 2025, so I’m curious to see where the story goes next.

A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova (April 7, 2026)

Our Rogue Fates by Sarah Glenn Marsh (April 28, 2026)

Seek the Traitor’s Son by Veronica Roth (May 12, 2026)

The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty (May 19, 2026)

I have read a few Elise Kova books, and I’m actually sad to say that I’m not fully up-to-date on all her releases, like her Married to Magic series, which is now being traditionally published after a successful indie pub run, so hopefully I’ll be able to pick up the series with the re-release. Then there’s this ex-childhood friends-to-lovers fantasy adventure book that sounds really intriguing, so naturally I’m going to give it a try.

Okay, next I’m ready to read another Veronica Roth book. I enjoyed her last two novella releases, and this one sounds rather exciting. And oh my goodness, we are finally getting the next Amina al-Sirafi book. I mean, I’m probably going to have to re-read the first installment in the series, but I’ve really enjoyed every Shannon/S.A. Chakraborty book I’ve read.

Inkpot Gods by Seanan McGuire (June 9, 2026)

A Dance with the Fae Prince by Elise Kova (June 9, 2026)

The Shape of Monsters by Tessa Gratton (June 16, 2026)

Seanan McGuire is awesome and I adore the Alchemical Journeys series (Middlegame is probably still my favorite of the series, but I’m still really curious to see how the story continues to weave together). I already spoke on Elise Kova above, so there’s nothing else to really say here. Finally, I’m reading The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton this month, and I just have a feeling that I’m really going to enjoy it, so I might as well go ahead and put the sequel on my anticipated releases list.

Moss’d in Space by Rebecca Thorne (July 7, 2026)

Sea of Charms by Sarah Beth Durst (July 28, 2026)

Devour Me by Emily Rath (Aug 4, 2026)

Dangerous and Well-Read by Rebecca Sky (Aug 4, 2026)

There’s a lot of authors I keep my eye on, but Rebecca Thorne is one I regularly follow for all of the information she shares about writing and publishing, so every time she announces a new book, I definitely look into it. And her newest is a cozy sci-fi, which sounds absolutely adorable. Speaking of cozy, I’m also looking forward to the next cozy fantasy by Sarah Beth Durst, because this series (which started with The Spellshop) has been a delight.

We don’t have the cover yet just got the cover today, so I’m updating this post just before it goes live for the upcoming Emily Rath paranormal why Choose romance, but I’ve seen character art and overall the concept sounds really intriguing, so I can’t wait to pick it up. Then there’s Dangerous and Well-Read which caught my attention with its cover and sprayed edges, and then I read the little bit of information I could find out about it and it sounds really fun.

Critical Role: The Mighty Nein: Stories Untold by Critical Role, Betsy Aoki, Kiri Callaghan, Dani Carr, Mae Catt, Mike Chen, Rin Chupeco, Nino Cipri, Nadia El-Fassi, and Chase K (Aug 11, 2026)

I Punched an Alien and Now We’re in Couples Therapy by Kimberly Lemming (Aug 18, 2026)

Well Versed by Jen DeLuca (Sept 22, 2026) [COVER NOT YET REVEALED]

Brigands & Breadknives Deluxe Edition by Travis Baldree (Oct 13, 2026)

This Crimson Ruin by Rebecca Thorne (Oct 13, 2026) [COVER NOT YET REVEALED]

As a huge fan of Critical Role, obviously I’m excited for anything they release. The Vox Machina story collection was so good, so I’m definitely looking forward to the Mighty Nein story compilation. Was I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming one of my favorite reads last year? Absolutely, so I’m very excited to finally read the next installment.

After that is the fifth and final (I’m sad about this) Willow Creek book by Jen DeLuca. This Ren Faire Romance series has been so wonderful. I don’t know when the cover reveal will be, but I’m excited for it. Then there’s the deluxe hardcover edition of Travis Baldree’s latest release, so I’m going to have to add it to my collection. And finally, back to discussing Rebecca Thorne, we’re going to get the sequel to This Gilded Abyss and I’m really curious to see where the story and the characters will go after the events of the first book.

Well, that is all from me for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
