Books I Want to Read in January

Hey all, Sam here.

Am I starting my year with making a TBR for the month? Yes, I am, and I’m actually feeling very hopeful that I’ll be able to complete this list of 10 books in January, because all of them sound incredible…and some of them sound so nice that I can’t wait until closer to their release days to read them, so I’m reading them very early.

But I also had a co-worker buy me a few books for Christmas, and I really want to read them soon as well, because she also bought copies of them for herself, and if we both read them then we can discuss them, which sounds awesome.

The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton, This Princess Kills Monsters by Ry Herman, This Fatal Kiss by Alicia Jasinska

These are the three books my co-worker got me for Christmas, and I’m very excited to read each of them. To be completely fair and honest, my co-worker asked me for a list of books I wanted but hadn’t picked up yet, and I gave her a list of 10 books, so I had no idea which ones she was going to end up buying. But I would have been happy with any of them because there are so many books out there that I still want to read.

My TBR is never-ending and that is totally fine, although I’m sad that I’ll never have enough time to read every single book that catches my interest.

Death Meets Cute by J Penner (April 28), Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar (June 9), Gods & Comics by Kat Cho (April 21)

Okay, I decided a few weeks ago that Hopeless Necromantic will be my first read of the year. I read the first chapter while stuck at a hotel due to the weather and had to put the book down. That wasn’t because I wasn’t enjoying the book; it was because I thought it would be so good that I would want to include it in my best reads of the year post. However, because I require it to be a book that has been released already, I had to wait until 2026 to read it.

A Tempest of Ravens by E.A. Bard, Through Gates of Garnet and Gold by Seanan McGuire (Jan 6), Nightshade and Oak by Molly O’Neill (Feb 3), Bromantasy by Maire Roche (May 26)

Obviously I’ll be reading the newest Seanan McGuire novella really soon too, since it is out next week, but I don’t imagine that will take me all that long. Goodness, I was looking through my spreadsheet of NetGalley releases I’ve been approved for, and I think I’m in for an incredible year of reading already. There are so many books that I am really excited about.

I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to do better with getting reviews written and released after finishing books this year. It would be nice to get back to a more regular review release schedule.

Are there any books you’re really excited to read in January? Let me know in the comments (you know, just in case I need to add more books to my TBR). Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
