Can I Finish These Books in 2025?

Hey all, Sam here.

Welcome to December, which means that 2025 is almost over. That also means that I’m really starting to look back over my accomplishments for the year, as well as planning ahead for 2026 (but I’ll have more on that in future posts). For today, I’m looking back at my 25 in 2025 post, my Books I’m Hoping to Read in 2025 post, and My End of Year NetGalley Reads post to see how many books are still on my need-to-read list…and then narrow that down to something that is actually attainable in the last few weeks of the year.

Okay, for my end of year NetGalley reads, I have The Once and Future Queen by Paula Lafferty…but that post came out before a couple more December releases winded up on my NetGalley shelf. So, I am adding An Arcane Inheritance by Kamilah Cole (to be released 30 December 2025) to my list as well.

Now, looking at my 25 in 2025 post that I made all the way back in December 2024, I have not made a lot of progress with these reads. Currently I have only read 3 of the 25 books on the list. From what’s left here, I’m going to just choose a few to prioritize, so: The Poisons We Drink by Bethany Baptiste, The Road of Bones by Demi Winters, Saints of Storm and Sorrow by Gabriella Buba, Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger, and Swordcrossed by Freya Marske.

Finally, for the Books I’m Hoping to Read in 2025, I have read 5 of the 14 books on the list. For these ones I’m going to add This Will Be Fun by E.B. Asher, The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. Maclean, To Bargain with Mortals by R.A. Basu, and Cry, Voidbringer by Elaine Ho.

Hopefully this is a list that I can accomplish with the days remaining this year, but we’ll see what happens because I am most of the time a mood reader, so I do have a tendency to deviate from most TBRs I try to make. Back in 2018-2020, I think I was actually pretty good at not only keeping to my TBRs, but reading more than I predicted each month. But the world has changed a lot since then, and so have I, so I’m not as on top of things anymore (yay for too much stress).

Oh…and David and I might be doing our Jolabokaflod Readathon again this year. It’ll be 24 December, starting at 6pm in whatever time zone you live in, and reading until 6am on 25 December. I’m still waiting to get my work schedule for that week, but I”m hoping I can enjoy my Readathon again this year. I’ll talk about it more in a future post, but you can also go back and read about it in one of my previous Jolabokaflod posts.

I’ll have my November wrap-up posted…..hopefully tomorrow or the day after, and then I have some book review posts that I meant to have up in November, but things got a bit hectic in the week leading up to Thanksgiving, so that didn’t end up happening.

All right, that is all from me for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
