Manga Review: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent Vol 6 by Yuka Tachibana and Fujiazuki

Hey all, Sam here.

I have had a mostly lazy couple of days, but they haven’t been as productive as I had hoped they’d be. But that’s okay, honestly. I think I needed a little break from things, and I can do blog writing and book reading during the work week, so it’s all fine.

But with the relaxation and laziness also came me not getting this post up at the usual time, because I was spending time with the cats, checking on the 3D printers, and watching some shows and movies.

Anyway, welcome back to Manga Monday, the series on the blog where I review a volume of a manga I’ve been reading each week. I’m actually starting to catch up on my manga reviews, so I’ll need to do a weekend binge-read at some point pretty soon. For today though, let’s talk about the last volume I’ve read of this particular series. I think Vol 7 is out in the world, but Vol 8 won’t be here until early next year, and there’s only two volumes for the spin-off manga. I suppose if I want to explore the world more I’ll have to pick up the light novels in the meantime.

All right, let’s get started.

A charming isekai tale about a woman’s magical entrepreneurship in a fantasy world–which is now an anime, in English from Funimation! (And don’t miss the original light novels, also from Seven Seas.)

Sei, a 20-year-old office worker, is whisked away to a whole new world. Unfortunately for Sei, the ritual that summoned her–meant to produce a “Saint” who would banish the dark magic–brought two people over instead of one. And everyone prefers the second girl over Sei?! But this is just fine by Sei, who leaves the royal palace to set up shop making potions and cosmetics with her newfound magic. Business is booming, and this might not be such a bad life, after all…as long as her supposed Sainthood doesn’t come back to haunt her.

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 stars

There are only occasional bouts of action going on in this series. For the most part it is just a slice-of-life series dealing with some of the more day-to-day activities of Sei and the other characters. And most of the time I’m okay with that…but I can absolutely understand how it might not appeal to everyone.

At this point in the manga, Sei has been in this world for a year, and the monster attacks have slowed down drastically. But there is also an herb shortage happening, as well as a request from a neighboring domain that sees Sei and a few of the knights making the trip.

What I liked about this volume is that Sei gets a new mentor for herbs and potions and such, and she starts learning about the herbs that are local to different regions. It’s like getting deeper worldbuilding and lore drops and making the world feel broader and more complex.

We also meet a new male character who just might be another contender for Sei. While this has the opportunity to be a reverse-harem type isekai story, the progression of romance and such moves so slowly that it hasn’t reached that point yet. But this new contender is a beefy himbo, and I can’t wait to learn more about him.

Okay, well that is all from me for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
