Manga Review: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent Vol 5 by Yuka Tachibana, Fujiazuki, and Syuri Yasuyuki

Hey all, Sam here.

Welcome back to another Manga Monday! Actually, as I type this up it is technically Sunday and my mom has left to begin the long drive back to Ohio. So I have a little free time before David wakes up, and that is an excellent time to do some blog prep. Perhaps someday we’ll do a blog process post, so we can talk about the planning and the time that goes into everything we do here with Free State of Geek.

In other news, I think David and I are going to be quite busy the next few days. So Diablo IV comes out tomorrow, and we both really really want to play it. Since David is off work Tuesday through Thursday, we’ll probably be playing a lot of the game. But Thursday is also the local Downtown Summer Market, and we’ll be helping a friend with a table there, which should be pretty fun.

But before we can get into our video gaming, we have a few blog posts to get prepped up, so let’s go ahead and jump into today’s Manga Monday review.

With her workaholic life on Earth further and further behind her, Sei is truly coming into her own as the living Saint of the kingdom of Salutania. Experimenting with her unique holy magic, she finds new ways to fortify both herbs and potions with strength never before seen. It’s a strength she may soon need to rely on, because the day is drawing close when she’ll join the royal knights on their campaign to subjugate the wild monsters of the land. When the kingdom marches on a monster-haunted forest, it’ll take all the powers of a Saint to make sure everyone comes home safe!

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 stars

While the last volume was a little slow in terms of what was going on, this volume brings us a lot of development with the characters as well as the action. Honestly, you have to feel a little sorry for Sei. All she seems to want to do is to have a quiet life of research and work at the Research Center, but it is getting so hard for anyone to deny that she is the Saint.

But this volume is great because it also gives us some time with Sei and Aira and Elizabeth. It’s like our first real check-in to learn what Aira has been up to, and leads very nicely into the spin-off that follows Aira as she figures out her place in this world.

Also, can I just say that I very much dislike Prince Kyle. He’s a jerk.

This volume is where Sei gets to go out into the monster-filled forest along with some of the knights. It’s nice to get away from the castle and the barracks and the Research Center where we’ve spent most of our time through the whole series so far.

I am intrigued by the relationships so far. The Grand Magus is very interested in Sei, but I can’t help but think that it is because he is very into magic, and he’s more into figuring out her magic and limitations than any sort of romantic infatuation. However, Albert, he is definitely working on courting Sei, and I think they are a pretty cute couple, probably the best of the options that have been introduced so far.

I hope we keep building up more of this world and the magic and the society. I’m liking getting to see more than just the limited view of things we had in the beginning. Plus, of course, I am always a fan of intriguing worldbuilding and fascinating magic systems.

Well, that is all from me for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
